Nice review buddy. Appreciate your balanced approach. I’ve test ridden this particular bike. Noticed, and agreed with all your observations - the indicator switch sux and I don’t remember thinking that on either the 990 or 1390 I’ve ridden, nor the plethora of KTMs I’ve owned. Something that you didn’t call out was that the front brake is not very progressive. It feels a little wooden and like it needs a bleed until you really yank on it and your eyes pop out of your head. I did adjust the lever though, so that might of helped. I’ve been keen to see a review of 1290 v 1390 where weight, power etc is compared, to test against my experience, so if you’re looking for your next test..! I ended up buying a dealer demo of the same bike 🕺

I bought one of these as a track bike - absolutely the best track bike possible. The tires are cheap, it uses so little fuel, the ergonomics are terrific. I swapped the front forks as I was bottoming them out pretty hard, but other than that it's been terrific. I went to an R6 for racing this year, but the Ninja 400 is still just such a good bike.

I really enjoyed this 5.38 is still very good, I think weight plays a role maybe costing 1 sec or so, sprocket gearing is also a factor, it seems you have to shift right before hitting that 100km/p mark, but still.. we'll done

Im looking for a comfortable unfaired lightweight bike to build a 1 person tourer. Styling doesn't matter much. Ive been riding on the street since 1974 and on the durt since 1966. Which would be better?

I have the Husqvarna version of this bike (Vitpilen 401) and agree it's a great bike to start on. I saw your post on SEQ motorcycle riders yesterday (How I found your channel), I'm on the sunny coast and some of my favorite rides are the Obi Obi/Maleny run and the Bellthorpe range. I'll have to try and get a bit further south and try some of the roads you get to they look pretty good.

Thanks for checking it out! Beautiful up that way, have been meaning to ride up to Maleny. The main route down here is the Mt Nebo - Mt Glorious, it's a good stretch

ktm wasn't happy selling motorcycles. They had to go fancy. The money it took to build a car and have a GP presence was stupid. THE MATH NEVER DID WORK. The CEO and investors are huge ego losers.

It's been ten straight years of listening to people calling the 600 a dying breed. It's getting a little old.
@aja85902 күн бұрын
It does get old, but it is happening. No longer any 600 offerings from Suzuki or Yamaha. Honda only offers Australia the LAMS restricted CBR650R or the $30k CBR600RR. It’s really only Kawasaki keeping the segment alive (in Australia at least) with the 6R.
@SpineTingler0072 күн бұрын
@@aja8590 Here in the USA the market is flooded with Suzuki GSXR600s and Honda CBR600s. As well as Kawasaki 636s. The only brand missing is Yamaha and they have the R9 now. The 600 class is very popular.
@aja85902 күн бұрын
@@SpineTingler007 Mate, maybe the accent wasn’t a dead giveaway, but this video is from an Australian and I’m talking about the Australian market. The 600’s are disappearing from all other regions - yes, the world is bigger than the US. Considering how restrictive noise and emissions regulations are becoming in the US (e.g. Kawasaki had to restrict the ZX4RR for the US market to comply with noise regulations), enjoy the GSXR600 and reasonably priced CBR600RR while you can.

It was fun, but i think i'd need something smaller
@GregMacDougall-m3n3 күн бұрын
I've noticed heavier bikes give a smoother and even a safer ride, due to how their weight causes them to absorb the impact of the bumps in the road. I'd rather ride a 1970's Motto Gutzi. They both have a big V-Twin engine. I just can't stand the orange and black ''Halloween'' colors. P.S. I've been telling other motorcyclist about your channel.

Appreciate the support! I'd like to try get my hands on a smaller V-Twin as i really like the torquey character. Ducati Monster or perhaps an FTR

I just got this dream bike after so many years through my friend. It’s a used bike, but right now. It has an issue with mono suspension so I can’t write it and it’s very expensive here in India to change it so if you have any other suspension spare, can you please courier it to me? It will mean a lot.

There is always a chance to turn things around if they are willing to look at everything and as we said in the military, no sacred cows. Harley-Davidson was literally hours from collapse at the end of the AMF era and restructured everything and turned it back into a huge profitable company. They are shrinking a bit right now but new things and ideas are coming out that could turn it back up again. Apple had a similar story. It almost collapsed and when it developed a whole ecosystem of electronics. It rose out of the ashes. And it grew to be the was the wealthiest company in the world for a bit.

This is what I always think of when I see stuff like this regarding KTM. I had my CBR954RR back in 2012 and kept up with prices and models more than I do now. I remember when the RC8 came out. Very nice bike, however.... The MSRP for the 2012 Honda CBR1000RR was $13,800 The MSRP for a 2012 KTM RC8 was $16,499. The Honda had more HP, and was easier to ride. Plus, it had/has Honda's reliability. It seems KTM continued that sort of mindset from then until now. I mean, what is the MSRP for the new RC8-R vs the new CBR1000RR-RRRRRR R.

If you managed to get her up to a higher speed.... almost at 200km it changes. You get close to that you will feel the entire bike lower into the road. The aerodynamics kick in and becomes so stable. It is fantastic. No matter that speed or gear you will take off. I have this exact bike and you get people all the time admiring it. You get a lot of respect from bikers and non-bikers all the time. It has presence.

The reason I would buy the Kawasaki over the Honda CMX 500 is because Kawasaki is decent enough to include a passenger seat which is always imperative for me. It just appears to be much more of a motorcycle. I believe the Kawasaki would be much quicker too. ABS standard!! It’s a win win for me!! I am so tired of these new motorcycles coming out that go cheap on the seat!! I think any bike should be passenger ready.It didn’t used to be that way in the 60’s and 70’s. Can’t pick up a hitchhiker without a passenger seat now can you? Many of us met our wives needing a ride and we were able to say hop on back if you need a ride!!

Ya brakes are shit especially if you are over 80kg. Replace with braketech rotor ebc sintered pads and Brembo Master cylinder. Though costly upgrade that will run you about 1500 CAD in parts .. it's worth it if you are keeping your bike "forever commute bike" or track readying... Rotor Comes in at 5mm and 6mm thickness.

Hey kwackajack, Just wondering would there be much difference between the Ninja 400 compared to the Ninja 500. I’m asking as I am 6ft 2, but I’m 135kgs I have sat on a 400 and it was nice but I sat on a ninja 650 and it just felt more balanced for me so yeah I’d be curious if you could review the Ninja 500!
