I premade thank you cards for an Alaska ferry ride from Juneau to Seattle. I had a 3 and 1-year old that were a handful. The staff put up with noise and many loops around the deck with the stroller. I became the talk of the ship after giving the staff thank you cards! Apparently, they didn't receive much appreciation for their hard work. I also made 2" x 2" thank you cards for the nursing staff when my Mom was going through her breast cancer treatments. They were easy to make and keep in a ziplock bag in my purse. Again the staff was very appreciative! I know your cards will be well received!

Now I wonder if you can use microglaze under embossing powder. Great little cards. TFS!
@mariafernandez65376 жыл бұрын
I was going to ask this also. Do the microglaze first then emboss.
@DonnaJo34526 жыл бұрын
I’m also going to experiment with Distress Micro Glaze and other embossing powders. It should be okay to use with Ranger embossing powder.

Donna Jo let us know please. I planned on ordering micro glaze in my next SSS order

Aww...I wanted to see how u fixed the dulled heat embossed sentiment. Like using a metallic pen to go over it? Or re-stamp in stazon black?

Beautiful cards! That was quite a lot of micro glaze. I wonder if you used less if that would still happen. Of course I have to try it now. Enjoy your cruise 🚢

And this is why I love my matte workable fixative for this type of thing. And for a bonus you can still work on top of it with pencils and some other mediums.
@ilyrivera72976 жыл бұрын
Lyndel Turner what fixative do you use? I like the idea of being able to add other mediums. Thanks.
@wtpb6 жыл бұрын
I use one by Micador for pencil, charcoal, chalk and pastels. There are things you can't spray it on like regular pen ink and markers but it's great for chalky and dusty medium. I have also used it on dry cheap watercolours. You should always test with the medium you intend to spray it on so you don't end up ruining your work. I buy mine in Aus and I don't know if you could get the same one where you live but Krylon probably have a workable one as well.

I recently bought the micro glaze but haven't had a chance to use it yet, so thanks for sharing and saving me some grief lol. Like someone else commented, I wonder if you could use micro glaze on a background, let it dry or set, and then stamp and/or emboss over it?

Really elegant cards, Kristina! I love the silver embossing over the watercolor backgrounds. It was too bad about the one where the Micro Glaze ate away at the embossing. Thank you for the warning! I hope the card wasn't totally ruined, anyway. :)

Distress Microglaze sets watercoloring and makes it waterproof, for example when watercoloring on envelopes. I use it all the time to waterproof my Distress Inks. Only a tiny bit on the tip of your finger is needed! Maybe if a smaller amount was used it would have worked. I guess I’ll be experimenting with that! Also i just saw a Tim Holtz video in which he used Distress Microglaze to water proof Distress Oxides - and the most extraordinary thing happened - the Oxides became really bright and you could see every color in every layer. It was so amazing!
