The power of internet is really astonishing. I'm a law student from Brazil and the system in the USA is totally different in comparsion. Here, takes 5 years to get a bachelors degree and in the end of the course you need to pass in an exam called OAB (Like BAR), then you will become an lawyer. Besides that, seems like law course in USA is more directed to the pratical exercises, which is really good and a positive point, while here the course is around 80% pure theory, usually people get ou of college without knowing how to develop good arguments before a court and etc. Btw, greetings from Brazil!

Hi Kwok ! I am a student from Hong Kong that just met the application requirement. I was rejected by Oxford last year despite decent Lnat grades. As the deadline for this year's application is approaching, I wonder what's you view on applicants previously rejected applying again ? I am currently considering this option but worried if I failed again it would really affect my confidence and learning.

It's not an issue! I'm at Cambridge and know a few people who reapply after being rejected once and got in! They won't hold a previous rejection against you! Best of luck with your application

I am only in seventh grade, but Oxford has been my dream uni for quite a long time. Do you have any advice for what to study during my high school years and maybe 8th grade? My chances of getting into Oxford are very slim since I am from the US but to boost my chances the most, it would be beneficial if I knew what classes or background knowledge I should study for getting into Oxford Law.

as said in the video Oxford law doesn't have any specific requirements for what subjects you take. however, they do prefer subjects in which you can showcase more of your analytical essay-writing skills. it depends on what system you're taking, but my classmates aiming for law usually takes subjects such as Eng lang & lit, Eng Lit, History, Economics, and so on.

Hello I'm from the UK I have a friend that recently got in to oxbridge for Law. For A levels she Studied Philosophy, Maths, English Lit and History. Oxbridge (oxford and Cambridge) Loves Writing based subjects that also helps develop your analytical and critically thinking skills so I would Say English Lit, Philosophy and History and possibly even Geography are the best options. I to plan to apply for Law in top schools in the UK and we are advised to most definitely take English Lit or History for A levels as those are what you call "Facilitating subjects" or "Hard subjects".

@@peachii1848 No worries Plans change all the time. I too is actually considering maybe doing my Bachelors here in the UK but maybe go to the US for my Law degree as in the UK all you have to do is pass this very difficult exam to be a lawyer and I can study law anywhere in the world as long as I pass the exam I don't even have to study law but it helps to pass the exam. but if I ever wanna briefly live in the US or work then I would have to do a Bachelors then law degree once again 🙃 And I think What I have said is useful but more altered to please the UK System. Anyway Good luck! You are so lucky you have plenty of time until you have to stress about this stuff honestly just take your time no rush. I have until next year and I have to submit my applications. Honestly, petrified.

i think it really depends on your country's legal system. if it also follows common law, then I think the transition would be easier. If not you could always study postgrad within your country afterwards.

Hey, I'm not sure if this is a dumb question but do you think doing bad on even one GCSE could effect your chances of getting in? I know it's hyper competitive but I'm not sure if something like this could genuinely sway it

Hi!! I am not 110% sure the information I am about to provide is fully accurate but I hope it eases your mind a little bit (so that you may focus more on your post-GCSE study other than your GCSEs) But Oxbridge generally uses your GCSEs as a last resort to discriminate you against other candidates whose applications may have piqued their interest as much as your application. They contextualise and generally if the GCSE you got a ‘bad’ grade on is a subject thats not related to your chosen field of study directly, or on English language and maths, then youre fine! There’s no reason to doubt your ability to get into Oxbridge if its just one bad grade in a GCSE (as long as it isnt a fail.) Best of luck in your future endeavors and focus on enhancing your personal statement than dwelling on your performance in ur GCSEs.

hi! Indian student here :) im planning on studying law and im currently doing the isc. law in the uk does not require the SATs, that's only for the US. If you can find a school that offers AP classes that would be great but it is not necessary. doing A levels or the IB is always best in India as it permits you from skipping the ielts for SOME universities. most universities prefer these 2 boards but its not necessary

Hi, I’m upcoming 10th grade student and I’ve been thinking about a profession for me in the future and top 3 choices are Engineering, Medicine and Law. I don’t know which one to choose honestly since I love these 3 careers. Although I might choose Engineering but apart from it there’s a part of me that want to pursue law but I am honestly a very introvert person and I don’t like public speaking especially debates because I am so emotional and by thinking that while debating I might cry🥲 but apart from it I also heard that it is expensive? I live in Asia and I’m not rich to go to law school especially in Oxford University. It’s been my dream to study in Oxford since I was in 8th grade despite being a broke teen, I’m longing to study at Oxford. Do you have any tips to what subjects need to more focus on in law? And also my English is not very good since it’s my 3rd language but I’m improving it. But if I ended up choosing Engineering, I will still study law :)

not the person you're looking for a reply from, but I have to say that its totally ok if you're more of an introvert! There are many other positions in law other than being a barrister (representative in court) that do not require public speaking, but are equally as important. you really don't have to decide this until you're in the final years of university. as for choosing subjects, Oxford Law does not explicitly have requirements for the subjects you take. however, like what was said in the video, I recommend subjects that are essay-based and could really showcase your analytical skills, such as English language and literature, History, and so on.
