you can also stuff a rag in the radiator hole so your funnel doesn't move

So I installed the new stator and rotor, new brushes and a new R/R. Started it up and checked with the voltmeter but it's reading low. The battery was low to begin with, I'm charging it now but I noticed that it never gets fully charged. Battery another problem you think? Thanks

@HTMR11 жыл бұрын
Check all wires and make sure they are clean and tight, especially ground.
@levidauerheim89786 жыл бұрын
isnt their coolant that you can buy that is already at 50/50
@henerymag11 жыл бұрын
Thanks Matthew I will. Hate to keep bugging you but just 1 more thing. The 2 wires extending to the brush holder I connected to the brush connections, hope that was right and not to the mounting bolts themselves. Thanks a million.

So theres no bleeding procedure or anything, just drain and fill? Awesome vids by the way
@HTMR10 жыл бұрын
No bleeding procedure. Just do a quick heat/cool cycle and check level.

What do you think about them thermostat radiator caps for $25 ? Novelty? Functional? IMHO, I think they look cool as long as they hold pressure.

Actually I never worked on a bike that had one. Never felt the need to buy one either. I do however have an IR gun that I could use on ANY bike or car: amzn.to/2Dj34Eu

Great vid! I have a 2007 KX250f and I have to replace the coolant every time I change the oil/ oil filter (Just because the oil filter and coolant are under the same case) I was just wondering if there is a particular method and if that's normal?
@HTMR7 жыл бұрын
I've worked on a KX250F, 2006, where it had a boyesen super cooler pump cover. I don't remember the oil/coolant sharing the same bolts.
@CKTheGoon7 жыл бұрын
MatthewMCRepair Thank you for replying, I just changed it last night with my dad and we found a way around it. Thank you!
@IamDtvStudios10 жыл бұрын
how do you dispose of the old coolant? do auto stores recycle it like they do oil?
@HTMR10 жыл бұрын
I take it to the oil change place in town I used to work at when I was a teenager.

What was the reading and at what RPM? At idle, you'll be lucky to get 12.5V, should get 14.5-15.5V at 5k RPM. A good batt will have 12.6V. I'm going to eventually remove this comment since it's under the wrong vid.
@HTMR11 жыл бұрын
Fill it up all they way to the top.
@Proto50119 жыл бұрын
Great tutorial! But IMO It's better to buy the right coolant for bikes rather than buy coolant because it's cheap. Probably won't do any harm but Engine Ice is the only coolant I use. Pricey but keeps lower Temps (they claim this, and, unless my temp strips were wrong at the exact time I changed my coolant, it's true)

I run the Honda HP coolant sometimes.

dose water come in the antifreeze like 50/50
@HTMR8 жыл бұрын
+nick m Yes, you can buy 50/50 premix which is ready to pour in.
@samuelgrieco86007 жыл бұрын
can someone put up a video of the coolant bleeding procedure.. because im a car mechanic and its not just pour coolant in and then your done..you have to wait untill thermostat opens etc etc whats the procedure for a bike..
@HTMR7 жыл бұрын
Pour it in, run it for a bit, top off, then your done. No thermostat on these so they bleed very easily.
@samuelgrieco86007 жыл бұрын
thankyou!
@youngcharofficial88757 жыл бұрын
Could u put regular antifreeze in the bike or do u have to mix it with water
@HTMR7 жыл бұрын
It has to be 50/50 mix.
@DavydB6 жыл бұрын
+MatthewMCRepair so it has to be 50 water and 50 coolant?

@michaeljonathan5435 жыл бұрын
do you have to cut the coolant with water? or was that just bc you didnt buy the motorcycle-specific stuff
@HTMR5 жыл бұрын
I buy straight coolant and mix with water myself. If you buy ready to use coolant, it is half water, yet full price. It's a rip off.
@michaeljonathan5435 жыл бұрын
@@HTMR makes sense - I noticed a bit of coolant coming out of a clear hose under the bike...what can be done to fix this?
@michaeljonathan5435 жыл бұрын
its a 2007 KX250F
@HTMR5 жыл бұрын
@@michaeljonathan543 Chances are too much coolant was put in and it was simply puking it out due to expanding when heated. Correct level should be about 1/2" below neck.
@michaeljonathan5435 жыл бұрын

Can you mix 2different brands of colant if u have a little bit of one left
@HTMR9 жыл бұрын
Paul Fritze Given that coolant is relatively inexpensive, I'd say go buy some new coolant.
@LT-fm8ei6 жыл бұрын
is it mandatory to do a 50/50 mix i have an rm and i wasnt sure?
@HTMR6 жыл бұрын
Yes. Straight coolant does not dissipate heat as well.
@amp63227 жыл бұрын
Wait so... if I'm changing my coolant and it is a different kind you can't mix... can I just drain all the coolant that is in my bike then put the new coolant or do I have to clean the radiator, if so how do I clean the radiator so I can put the new coolant?
@HTMR7 жыл бұрын
What coolant brand are you using? When in doubt flush the system with water before adding new coolant.
@henerymag11 жыл бұрын
Sorry, should have posted under the other vid. The readings are all over the map. Will start at 11.5 and drop way down then come back up and down again. Anything but consistent.

My 01' kx250 is leaking coolant! It's coming out of the topend of the engine. It only leaks when it's running and pressure is building! Any tips?!?
@HTMR10 жыл бұрын
Be more specific on the leak. Head gasket?
@RideOrDiiie10 жыл бұрын
Yeah, right out of the top. I brought it into the shop this morning and they're going to look at it but basically the guy is thinking it needs a new top end.
@HTMR10 жыл бұрын
RideOrDiiie Sounds like just a gasket leak to me. Don't replace the top end unless you really need it.
@RideOrDiiie10 жыл бұрын
The shops taking a look at it for me, I just moved up north and am renting a place so I don't have a lot of workspace to do it myself or I would.

R.C.A bobby don't use tap water or hose water when flushing a radiator only in a emergency because of the minerals

@heiscoming44477 жыл бұрын
you should never replace the bolt with a tool always line it up with your fingers so you don't strip it out
@HTMR7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip, I've never stripped it with my method. Sometimes you can't get your finger in places.
@jaked95386 жыл бұрын
Thats if you are using like air or electric tools, you have to be going really hard to strip with a hand tool

Your water pump seal is not being lubricated with water only. Also, it gets COLD here.
