Depression really is a monster that can happen to anyone. As with most illnesses, early awareness and intervention is key to recovery. Anxiety happens to all of us for many reasons and there are so many great health tips to help us deal with the day to day downs but if you are having anxiety or sadness for an extended period of time, about 5 consecutive days, then it's absolutely necessary to take immediate action. Yes, I get that I have known people who were depressed young in life and still deal with it. It is not a great companion that is for sure I only have boughts of it now and then it is not fun. I feel for those who have it with them always and I always try to encourage the ones I know that have it.

Oh this hit me so unexpectedly... That's exactly how being depressed feels like, wearing masks, feeling lonely and misunderstood even when surrounded by so many people, nobody outside understands the depth of the situation. I'm 27 and I've been living in this condition the past 10 years and I'm still trying to get out of it. Very touching to see a young artist speaking so clearly and sensitively about that.

My tears are still running down my cheeks. Ky, you [erformed very well. Message is strong. The the writer(s) of the lyrics you did a masterful job. I am sixty-four and have been on meds for depression since my twenties. If I knew then what I know now I could have sought help as a teen. A fifteen year old student of mine took his own life sfter school one day. I saw he was on his phone so simply waved good bye. Less than an hour later he was gone. I regret to this day not walking the thirty or so feet to him just to say hello. Take nothing for granted. God's Blessings to ALL involved with this project. Thank you.

This honestly brought tears to my eyes, especially towards the end. I've repeatedly suffered depression throughout my life, ever since I was a kid. I've lost friends to suicide and depression through the years and regularly hear from others suffering through depression too. So, I want to applaud you for making a song and video raising awareness of it, as well as how important it is to get help if you find yourself going through it. Depression is so extremely hard to live with and even harder when you try and do it on your own, people cant see Depression and we have learnt to put on that fake smile and laugh so how are they meant to know its not like we have a plaster cast on our arm everyone can see we have broken our arm so its up to us to take the second hardest step forward the first one is to addmit to yourself your have Depression the second and most importantly is to tell someone, ask for help, go to your gp, go to your school counselor or even your parents if you can but 100% reach out some way some how ❤❤❤❤ to all who reads this

I survived three years of a bipolar breakdown after my fathers death from cancer out of the blue. I grew boxing gloves in the process and would not wish it on anyone especially as it nearly killed me. All who cared stood by me so I was very lucky as I was extremely challenging. We all have mood changes but some are much more dynamic and for me caused by the emotional shock/grief. Ky you are a very talented wise compassionate human being. ❤ I’m a survivor who is very strong now but still suffers emotional anxiety where as practical challenges do not bother me at all. I added a comment last year, but I’m going to add another one. This song has taken on more meaning to me since I posted my comment. A few short months after I posted, I lost my mom suddenly with no warning. Then a few months later I had a change in duty at work, and now I struggle. I struggle more than I ever felt like I could. The one part about this video that resonates with me so much, the mask. Most days I paint a smile on my face and try to push forward, but then when I’m alone in the quiet…the mask falls off and I find myself asking “what am I doing? How do I keep going?” It truly is a struggle, I’ve always said I have inner demons that I’ve battled against, except now it feels like a full on war. But I continue to push myself forward, even when I stumble

The message of this song is very powerful. I have to deal with this condition myself, it is really hard to see any kind of hope when you are in a hole you don't think you can get out of. This song gave me some hope to see the light, I really need someone to talk to but I can't find someone to tell all this that I'm going through. Several times (about 5) I self-injured, but I didn't want to leave the people I love "with broken wings", although the pain sometimes consumed me, I knew I was here for something. Beautiful song, that's really deep for someone so young to understand those emotions. Just discovered this young singer a few weeks back when I was really low and "Dear mom" moved me to my core, because even at 37 years old sometimes I feel like letting go and leaving this world. damnn this just reminds us that it could be anyone... always check in with your friends family and reach out if you need help... we never know who is suffering or how much people can help us... i recently had a chat with some of my happy friends and found that everyone hid so much sadness... I'm 30 years old I've been dealing with PTSD and anxiety since I was 19 and have been through 2 years of therapy in 2012 and 2019 and it helped me immensely if anyone who reads this is thinking about therapy but pushes the thoughts away because you're ashamed you need it from the bottom of my heart please do it don't be ashamed to admit you need help acceptance is only the first step to recovery and I won't sugar coat it the road through therapy will be tough and emotional but at the end of the road however long that road may be you will be extremely thankful you went through with it

@Ky Baldwin - just a beautifully written song. It has so many messages contained within that takes you on a journey of self-discovery. From a metal health perspective, if someone says they are alright, alarm bells should start ringing especially if there is no meaning behind that disclaimer!! Yes, people do wear a mask. A mask to hide abuse; self-harm; torment from friends and family and self-discovery especially around sexuality. The World can be a cruel place to live in but it is how you overcome the trial and tribulations that you face on a day to day basis that determines a path of ones self-worth. Its easy to say I'm alright when deep down you know you are not. The hardest part is to reach out and seek help. I have a saying that I go by 'I am me, you are you!' Do not allow yourself to be dictated to by others . In Mental Health, there is a saying called ALGEE. A stands for Access the Risk; L stands for Listen non-judgementally; G stands for give information; E stands for Encourage professional help; E also stands for encouragement but this time on self-help. If you someone that is down / not themselves ask open questions to get the person to speak - how are you feeling? Pick up on what they are saying i.e. I just want to be on my own - try to change her mind by inviting her a drink or a walk and to chat over things. At the end of the day be a person who will lend their shoulder to cry on.

Your song really touched me. So many people feel that depression means that you are just depressed over a certain situation. That couldn't be farther from the truth. I know. I live with depression every single day of my life. And depression is a monster. I'm not able to reach out for the help that I need because I don't have any insurance that will pay for it. So I go to my priest. I don't think he gets it so I continue to look for someone who could identify with me and help me please pray for me I believe in the power of Prayer

Ky, my heart is heavy again. Bringing me to tears. The video and music together is so perfectly executed in terms of real, raw emotions and what it's like for someone with depression and the people around them, who see them every day. This hits close to home because I've nearly lost my closest friends to depression and although I've never had depression, I have had been in similar situations that made me believe I would never make it to 18. Adding onto that, someone from my school took their own life on campus during school hours and we all had to walk around the scene after school, and although it's been more than half a year, I still think about it a lot. During the scenes where the friends of the main character in this MV go to school without her, that really brought me to become teary because the day after it happened at school, everyone wore black to school the next day, and there was a lot unease in the air, and teachers and students crying. Although we had talks at school, a memorial and councelling etc, we had to continue our studies at school knowing that person isn't with us anymore and that their life literally ended near us, and it was just really hard. And I remember, everyone at the school environment was just not the same again. It's never an easy subject to talk about, but it's always important to check in and care for the people around us before it's too late. The music video captures the emotions really well, especially the more emotional parts of the song + your acting, Ky. Thank you

i have been dealing with depression since i was 9 years old and im now 37 and it has been really hard at 75 percent of the time, 25 percent of the time is easy and i am getting help every week for it, this song makes me realize that its not so hard just need more to connect with and to communicate with. This song did make me cry.
