In your conclusion you mentioned about communalism however you missed to set the context for Communal part. Similarly, for 2 nation theory as well the context was missing. For both aspects the context should start from 1905 at least, based on political and religious situation. Specially Bengal partition 1905, Muslim league formation 1906 and roots of 2 nation theory, Annulment of partition in 1911. change of Muslim leaders post 1911 and 2 nation theory, What made people to form Hindu Mahasabha 1916, Gandhi's support to foreign religious movement i.e. khilafat movement 1919 and attaching it to Indian freedom movement... And during this period Savarkar was in Jail and post that he was banned from political movements...

He was a good writer and poet with command over language. To start with, he may be revolutionary. But when he faced reality in jail, he became vulnerable, his morale broke down easily. He cannot be equated with many other revolutionaries who despite facing jail continued resistance against British empire, embraced death for the country. We are always proud of them due to their persistence, resilience, continued resistance, and dignified conduct despite difficulties. Savarkar broke down easily, used embarrassing language in mercy petition. He never participated in any activities against jail authorities as he was getting concession and privileges from jail authorities. No Indian will feel proud to notice his conduct in jail, his attempt to remain outside jail, after reading his mercy petitions. I feel proud to read petition by Bhagat Singh who calmly, happily embraced death and remained honest with his views. Fear of Death,hardship did not bother him. Savarkar refrained from any anti British activity after release from jail. All his activities help British ( dividing society along communal line, promoting recruitment of Indian soldiers to fight for British in Second World War ).

I think Sawarkar got demoralised after going to jail & that is why he evolved towards a wrong direction & sided with British for a pension. This is why a distinction is important b/w Sawarkar & other great revolutionaries such as Bhagat Singh, Batukeshwar Dutt, Ashfaq-ullah Khan, etc. Had Bhagat Singh also written a mercy petition he would have also be freed maximum till 1947.
