Dear Ghamidi sb as usual you go against the entire classical understanding but somehow fail to understand. The Question was that can we keep animals like dogs at home and you conveniently said that yes trained dogs can be. When do people keep untrained so called stray dogs at home? It’s a useless response to say that don’t let stray dogs come in. Will any sane person keep stray dogs? Also why not mention the Ahadith about dogs that come and try to wiggle out of their meaning.

This is in context that classical understanding doesn’t allow pets. Only allows as guard dogs or for hunting

I don't know what is exactly meant by classical understanding. What does the Quran and Sunnah tell us ? Or the story of Sahab e kahaf ? You may not agree with Ghamidi SB but I have never seen him wiggle out !!!

Dogs are only allowed for protection. Outside the house. Not inside. Besides you dont need dogs for protecting your home anymore since you got cameras. Keeping dogs as pets isnt allowed. There is clearly a Hadith which mentioned that Jibril didnt enter the Prophets house because a puppy was inside. Only lonely souls need dogs for companionship in their house. Although they can just be nice to any dog they see anywhere. Or visit a non Muslim friend who has a dog. Or just get a cat? Cats are allowed as pets. But no, people want to copy the West where mostly dogs are kept as pets
