I don’t understand why are you guys always shaming people for not giving you free favours? Just because someone didn’t let you stay at their place, they are bad ? This is Canada, people work hard here , have a set schedule. Not everyone is free and jobless to entertain people 24/7 in their space. You are responsible to find your own place to stay for yourself and your family.

You did good by insisting on your selected option for meal. Many airlines including good ones like Qatar and Emirates have this issue of having only limited number of meal options and denying passengers their selected option especially if you are in economy and sitting at the back of the plane. Once on Emirates they ran out of all meals by the time they reached me and they then gave me either leftovers or an emergency meal that was so bad that I couldn't even take one bite of it. Make sure you log your complaint otherwise airlines take such things for granted and make it a norm for cost cutting. Problem is most passengers do not log such complaints so airlines get away with it.
