Rabbit Hunting With a Hawk and Beagles

Recently we had a chance to see a Harris's hawk and a group of beagles work side-by-side to hunt rabbits here in Kentucky! It's hard to beat rabbit dogs, but adding a raptor to the mix makes it that much more interesting.

I have a beagle and Jack russle terrier mix and she would LOVE THIS OMG...I wish I knew where to go to let her rip....great video. ..tell birdie no lunch breaks...that was comedy

As far as predictors go, hawks and owls are the deadliest on small game. I once watched 5 hawks catch and kill 22 rabbits in one bean field. They were coming out of the beans, ahead of the combine, and crossing the stubble to a fence row. Only 1 rabbit made it to the fence row, only to see a hawk fly in and drag the rabbit out. If they’d killed one to eat “ok”, but they killed every rabbit that came out.
