The first condition for peace should be the return of all Ukrainians, deported from Russian-occupied territories including children "adopted" by Russians and all POW's who fought for Ukraine regardless of their nationality. Russian laws declaring them rebels and criminals cannot take precedence. The second condition for peace is the unconditional return of all territory taken by Russia from the first incursion in 2014 to the present. The third condition is reparations for the destruction caused. Full reparations for all infrastructure: dams, power plants, hospitals, factories, homes, schools, roads, everything. Occupation of the Ukraine was supposed to be only the biggest step so far in restoring the Soviet empire. Putin will never stop trying to restore the Soviet Empire, including all Warsaw Pact nations that were under Soviet yoke and are now NATO nations until he's dead. @@strezification There's no pink lala-land. And yet, Ukrainians can absolutely decide what to do, they know their situation better than we know ours. What happens if and when in negotiations, Ukraine is offered a deal that is advantageous to Russia, and Ukrainians say "no"? What will Europe and the US do then? Punish Ukraine? Abandon Ukraine? I guess that's what Russia thinks, but Russia constantly misunderstands the West (and Ukraine). Like the West constantly misunderstands Russia. And the US tends to fall prey to its own "main character syndrome" and disregard the agency of other people, and the importance of other nations. Ukrainians have defended themselves so ferociously and competently, that many leaders in Europe and the US haven't yet had to really consider the consequences for them and their countries if Ukraine should fall to Russia. Especially the US has been able to think of Ukraine as a far away land of which they know little, and of Russia as a nuisance which poses no real threat except for maybe nukes. But they will all face the reality that Ukrainians have been very clear about all this time.

Russia hasn't fully mobilized yet, despite which they have a 1.25 million sized army. Up from the 300,000 in 2022. Numbers.
@Hrorikr2 күн бұрын
Not to forget, unlike ukraine, Russia won't have to start a mobilization any time soon. Russia did a recruitment campaign this past year, and nearly 600.000 russians volunteered themselves to join the army, and write a military contract. Meanwhile ukraine suffers from mass desertion, with more than 200.000 ''soldiers'' who have deserted the frontline since 2022 And over 100.000 of these ukrainians have been charged under the desertion laws, by the military court. It's easy to see who is going to win this (it always was) However it is clear as day now, to anyone who ever was in doubt. Russians are eager for this, and have liberated 18 percent of ukraine already, moving forward (absolutely stunning modern military accomplisment) If you wonder how large that area is, That is a landmass roughly equivalent to countries such as bulgaria, cuba, guatemala or Iceland, or just about 2½ times bigger landmass than the kingdom of Danmark, in Skandinavia. In just two months going from october to november, last year. Russia has liberated area that's equivalent to the size of FYN and LOLLAND (in the Kingdom of Danmark) Meanwhile ukraine flees the front and have not done anything significant in Donbas since November 2022 За Победу За Правду Слава России

My thoughts from Canada: The war will end in Crimea. There will be no ceasefire until All of Ukraine - except Crimea - is returned. But the war will not end till Crimea is also returned. After the fall of the russian federation. If Crimea is not returned it will be left to suffocate, with all passage in and out limited to humanitarian aid, No industry. No economy. No military. In time they will have to give it back.

Pity that you had Zelensky in office in 2022. I think anybody else wouldn't refuse the possibility to make peace then. He is honest but naive and without of reliable political force to back him Refusing peace at that time, just because of word of some dishelved british politician was great mistake. Somebody here mentioned Bosnia, yes, the same thing happened in Bosnia, the EU negotiators came to solution (Cutiliero's plan) but then flew to Bosnia american ambassador urging stupid bosnian moslem president to refuse EU peace plan and thet US would recognise only unitary Bosnia. After that war started and bosnian moslems had greatest casualties while at the end bosnian Serbs gained much more bosnian land that it was agreed by Cutileiro's peace plan. Everything is happening as once Kissinger said: Being enymy of America is dangerous, but being America's friend is fatal.

By SAMYA KULLAB and VOLODYMYR YURCHUK Updated 9:24 PM PST, November 28, 2024 KYIV, Ukraine (AP) - Desertion is starving the Ukrainian army of desperately needed manpower and crippling its battle plans at a crucial time in its war with Russia, which could put Kyiv at a clear disadvantage in future ceasefire talks. Facing every imaginable shortage, tens of thousands of Ukrainian troops, tired and bereft, have walked away from combat and front-line positions to slide into anonymity, according to soldiers, lawyers and Ukrainian officials. Entire units have abandoned their posts, leaving defensive lines vulnerable and accelerating territorial losses, according to military commanders and soldiers.
