Many are in systematic denial, were scammed and prefer to pretend it doesn't matter, are too proud to admit it, are afraid to lose power if they admit... well, recognizing there is a problem is the first step to a solution; it seems some people have an interest in problems, even if it leads to genocide on a massive scale. Some deciders admire despots and tyrants, some admit it, some remain in the shadows and do their worst.

Sharp criticism of a point in his analysis: The U.S. was founded by atheists and deists with a prohibition against religion interfering in politics so strict that some considered it a violation of the separation of church in state to even count the number of ministers in the Union (as part of the census). _The difference was that the U.S. was founded with the_ *Rule of Law* _firmly in mind_ and not the "State Above All" ideal of the Russian Federation. Don't try to blame Russian amorality on atheism, the argument holds no water.

@davidwright5094Ай бұрын
@flyingfox @ZeFekup I think you've both rather missed his point. He's talking at a slightly more abstract level than simply that of how an individual may respond to a question formulated in language such as: "Is there a God?", and so on. He may be using a slightly misleading choice of language, but he is rather discussing whether or not a country _follows moral norms and upholds laws inspired by_ what could, loosely, be described as Christian and like values. Tom Holland (the historian, not the actor) is one example of those discussing an writing about this kind of topic. He was prominent on this kind of idea around 5-10yrs ago, roughly. Many people think Holland has a point, which explains why some of his writing around this topic has sold well -- e.g. his "Dominion", 2019. There are terms like "Christian atheism" which seem to me to be related.
@squiresonАй бұрын
Wasn't the U.S. founded with a strict separation of church and state as a founding principle? I think the difference is our emphasis on the Rule of Law rather than the State Above All. Given how many U.S. founders were deists or atheists, blaming atheism for Russian amorality seems unsupportable and out of line.
@flyingfox707bАй бұрын
@davidwright5094 there is no room for interpretation when it comes to the guy's bigoted opinion on atheism. Calling atheism as the source of russian atrocities is blatant stupidity and ignorance. The fact that KP is giving this clown a platform is a slap on the face of Ukrainian atheists and all the atheists supporting Ukraine.
@davidwright5094Ай бұрын
@@squireson But who is "under" the law? I think writers like Tom Holland argue that the inspiration for the answer "everyone" to this question, derives in part from the argument of certain religions that everyone is equally "under" some supreme religious authority (which is not a human being).

after listening to this discussion would it be fair to say that TRUMP wants to impose the same sort of criminal government system on america that is discussed in this program
Russia (The Soviets) invented wokism using left wing activists (Cultural Marxists) as a follow on from fully establishing homosexuality in the 20's and 30's. Then they established an opposing force - the right wing populists/christian conservatives with the knowledge tensions would later cause societal conflict. More recently, Putin developed conflicts in Africa and the Middle east to engender mass migration to Europe - knowing the populists, in particular, would resent Islamists flooding the country. The mass displacement of people has been profitable for the Russians over the years and along with drug trafficking - and prostitution, the three main activities of a Mafia - type State.

@9:58 Agree with much of what he says but the idea that lack f relgion is what makes Russia evil is not borne out. Crime rates tend to be lower in countries where less people are religious. Our anti tank weapons on NATOs eastern flank have names. They are called the AH-64 Apache attack helicopter. The US has several hundred Poland has at least 80 Germany has a bunch of them. In fact the US has around 1000 total attack helicopters of one type or another. Another anti tank weapon is called the A-10 thunderbolt 2 aka. The warthog. This plane was designed for close air support and to deatroy Soviet armor. And then we have the man portable weapons the Javelin and the AT-4 anti tank rocket and several others. Then there is the TOW missile launchers that every Bradley IFV has. They are designed specifically to destroy tanks. We have thousands of Bradley’s. Then there is the M1 Abrams that is primarily an anti tank weapon. What are tanks usually used for? To destroy other tanks is their 1st mission. The Russians are so god damned weak that Poland by themselves could team up with Ukraine and they could conquer Russia and take Moscow. That’s how weak they are. They are so weak that they have to make threats with nuclear weapons 😂. Everyone knows they won’t use them. Their nukes are only effective if they do not use them. Has the United States ever even once threatened another country with nuclear weapons. Yes Donald Trump threatened North Korea with them but I don’t count that because he isn’t a serious president and is kind of a big joke. Luckily for us all that the president is not a dictator even if he wants to be.
