This was a great video. I like how you used the paper towel. It seems like it keeps a painter from getting too picky to soon. I really like your whole process. I’m glad I found your channel.

Really great, When you started I thought, wow! what's this guy going to get out of a bush of sticks and leaves! Amazing, I'll be trying that now. Only thing I found, not only with this one, many in fact! (Tin hat on!!!) When you say "Well that's it, Thanks for watching and you give your outro speech, you don't stop at all, it's just perfect but you add a multitude of dots, lines and scratches!!! It does take away from what you had! (oops) CC

Amazing the great painting that evolved from the scramble of twigs and vines - ending with a very effective painting Kyle.

Can I make a suggestion to help with your easel struggles Kyle. If you put in some panel pins along the top and bottom lip of the canvas grips, 2 or 3 should be enough, then cut the heads of the pins off with some tin snips. Then you can push the canvas down onto them so they bite into the stretchers, that will stop any lateral movement when you're getting vigorous with your block in and not obstruct the canvas in any way so you can cover the whole thing. I have no idea if you call them panel pins or tin snips in the States but they're essentially just small nails and heavy duty sheet metal cutters.

I enjoyed the progression. I must admit in the beginning I kept saying your losing your light but in the end it turned out great. I’m going out today to spend some time painting at Horseshoe Bend Creek. It’s a beautiful, secluded park near me. Should be fun. Thanks for the inspiration and the instruction.

Very nice, Kyle! I was wondering how you were going to make a painting from a jumbled pile of vines and leaves! One of my favorites! Glad you shared!

I am really enjoying your videos. You are a much better teacher than the man who is teaching my $300 class. One thing I wish, though... it's often difficult for me to see the scene that you are looking at. Your Canvas OR easel often obscures The View. Perhaps you could turn your camera at the beginning to show the viewer exactly what you are looking at.

Amazing how you paint, I want to ask you do you apply lots of pressure when your putting paint on to the canvas, since your painting wet on wet????
@theartfulsouls4529

Thanks..it depends on the type of stroke I'm making...for big broad strokes I use more pressure but for small delicate strokes I use light touch:)

You are a great teacher. May I ask, why do add the light background after you painted the branches? I thought one good rule is to paint from back to foreground.
@theartfulsouls4529
@theartfulsouls4529 6 жыл бұрын
Quape , thank you! I like to work both ways pulling the background in over the foreground and then the foreground over top of the background so it's like a weaving process. I feel like this gives a more organic look to the finished piece.

Hi Kyle, can I ask - where do artists put their finished paintings when it takes months for the paint to dry?

Missing your posts. Hoping all is well. It’s been so rainy here in Georgia that I can only paint from reference photos that I have taken. I worked on a confederate grave yesterday. Anyway, just missing your posts.

Very cool demo video. I definitely need to get that book by Carlson. Sounds like a great way to understand light to paint much better. If you have a chance, I would appreciate checking my demos as well. All the best painting in plein air!
