Very true. Very talented but not hard enough. The enforcer role is an inherent liability points-wise, but comes with some advantages (intimidation etc). If you're going to go for the enforcer role, you better make it worth it - perfect example is Bakkies Botha. He cost the Boks so many points, but his presence made it worth it. Not sure if you agree but that's my take on the enforcer role (which really should become more and more scarce over the years with the camera angles etc.

However, under the tutelage of both Eddie Jones and Steve Borthwick he has improved massively in his skills in the scrum and his handling is now elite level (for a prop). One enjoyable aspect of English Rugby is the Harlequins (not Saracens, editted) front row of Sinckler, Ward and Marler. How they 'mouth' their way through a game till eventually the Ref wins¹. Next game they are back at it, never learning, trying to dominate, usually from 10 yards back while waiting for the opposition to kick another penalty. Of course, we only have them playing because of the 'tactical replacement' Law change which made room for large boofs who can last for 50 or so minutes. Probably to put their walnut brain back in its case. The IRB really needs a philosophy team working through all the ramifications of any changes. Eg: Can we have our scrums back please? Ritual collapsing is best left to some obscure religious sect. Touch, pause, snog, engaged, set, hit, AVO, alimony is for daytime soaps, not Alpha males having a romp with malicious intent. ¹My bet is they use it as a test to see how 'current' they are. Who can forget "I'm surprised you still have the energy."

@@MrGitBoy Old man's memory perhaps? Unforgivable in the internet age. It was the Harlequins. I should have taken a minute to check. I still stand by the comment that some of the recent Law changes have not been good for fast-paced, decision-heavy (therefore attractive) Rugby. Which is what I believe the game was developed to foster. We lose that the game will suffer. A slugfest is not the compromise solution. Furthermore we may be losing touch with the other pillar of Rugby which is 'a game for all shapes and sizes'. 6'2" Hookers (eg: Malcolm Marx, can play the 80, but he is freakishly talented, could be a flanker) tend to squeeze out those immovable bollards.

@@MrGitBoy I detected the clearest sense of a balanced mind when you didn't grab the opportunity to rip my antipodean head off for screwing up the clubs. My next tipple will be pointed in your general direction. I do get frothy, even sent emails to the IRB about the scrums, the Ref panel at the time, and most recently, Nigel Owens. Couched in diplomatic terms of course, because I want the game to grow. To be worthy of global indoor, air-conditioned stadia so that one day Tunisia can thrash Egypt in the All Sahara final. Had the ear of a General once, he loved Rugby too. Anyway I put to him the proposal that if Rugby changed just enough laws so that every mother would insist their little rugrats played the game long enough to develop the courage, confidence and love of fitness we developed as players what would that do to a society. I got the steely-eyed response. "They would be ungovernable!" I knew I was on the right track. Cheers.

We now entering into the where the men play the game, lets see if this boy can keep up without playing his dirty game and running away before it gets to heated.

Can’t wait for the day someone actually smacks him one right in the mouth. He’s a vile creation, and there is a lot of this ‘gangster’ attitude creeping into the game, him, laws, Billy V, Mario etc... rugby was a hard game with respect, these lot and others in the world game are dragging it down.

I don't know about rugby, but looks to me he's 'good' at cowardly cheap shots and doesn't last too long when face to face. In this vid he was repeatedly beat down by others. lol
@christycullen23553 жыл бұрын
I love it every time we play him tbh coz he's always good for a few cheap penalties. He's got no discipline. Prod him a few times and he loses it
