Speed is one thing but reading the game is more important for a defender and tackling ability. Walker was weak on both Spanish goals, for example. On the first he was simply out of position and the second his challenge was weak. Modern English fullbacks have been mediocre as defenders. Nice to see Chielini given some prominence as defending captain. There was a fullback.
