consider me markedly impressed, man. what a wonderful build. I loved seeing the design and construction/fabrication of it coming together. I'm a mechanic by trade (autodidact), but I've always loved engineering. I'm actually studying engineering now and I can't properly iterate how motivational seeing this build was. thanks so much for recording and sharing it.

Yeah, I figured if people want a slower video they can just use the settings to reduce the speed :) I'm keeping exact price secret for now, but it's probably a lot less than you think...

Hey Kyle, amazing build! It was done so well it looked like a kit! I was looking to do a build like this not for racing but more for just having fun with my friends, anyway could you give an estimate on how much all this costed from something as small as mig wire to something as big as the motor. I would love to know thanks!

I am in process of building my own buggy but dimensions and so on are bit intimidating for me trying to layout my design. Did you use a particular program to design blueprint or mockup ??? Similar to what you showed at the beginning of this clip.. I kind of want to build something like ATOM,.. similar to that with 1000cc street bike motor or a turbo 4 cylinder sorts.. really haven't decided on engine yet due to still in early stages of framework and cage.. I did like your design also but for myself I want the rollcage to be more rounded at top and low profile. For rear end I figured CV type or maybe find a suburu, civic, etc,.. at salvage yard and cut parts that I need.. Still in planning stages so I have a long way to go, but I enjoy doing something with my sons so it should be fine. Any pointers i'd really appreciate. Nice video btw..👍🏼

Curious about the transmission.. Do you simply not have anything connected to the driveshaft that would have gone to the rear wheels in the subaru? Would that cause problems long term with wear?

Hey while I have your attention being I'm relatively new to your channel (but I'm sub'd now 😅) did you look at American Baja buggies for influence? Or was it your own country that inspired?
@KYLEENGINEERS
@KYLEENGINEERS 7 жыл бұрын
Our racing style is quite different to American races (Far more corners, less whoop sections, more trail than desert etc.) So I needed something to suit. Influences were from my own experiences with single seater paved track cars, as well as design hints from mini-buggies and some of the larger buggies here. I tried not to have too strong an influence from other designs though and more go with what I thought would be the best solution from scratch, you can't beat a half million dollar car on my budget if you try the same thing as them! That meant a lot of design time, but judging by some of the sector and trap times I was netting in the first race on a half power engine and untuned suspension, I'd say there is a huge amount of potential with my car!

First off thank you for responding and being obtainable to your fans 🙏👏 second I was just curious because I have both rzr 1000 and 3 months ago my x3 xrs and thought your project was pretty low almost suspension to body straight with each other profile..with that said I'm working on my own from scratch buggy but not sure yet if I want to lean it to rock bouncer or desert trophy as in my location Midwest I have access to both principals for fun

Hey, I'm a AWS CWI, there is nothing wrong with your welds. As a Former Pipe Welder I can tell you that many Custom Fabshops don't even weld that good. Most of their stuff doesn't get any NDT so it is all about just looking pretty. But the One thing I noticed is that your steering wheel is on the wrong side :)

Well, I calculate it was 2500 man hours to rolling chassis, so probably about 4000 all up? Pretty much every weekend for 3 years, plus most of my holidays.
@LetoDeWirre
@LetoDeWirre 7 жыл бұрын
Wow. Like, WOW. Modern cars don't give me that special feeling that i get with old cars, and old cars are, well, old, so i always wanted to build my own car, but 4000 hours is shocking. What swallowed so much time? Making things with tools you have instead of tools you need? Sansara of hand-fitting?

Being an engineer and not a fabricator probably chewed a lot of time. He probably spent a day measuring every cut. That and probably remade parts that didn't fit instead of making them fit.

@KYLEENGINEERS
@KYLEENGINEERS 7 жыл бұрын
They are PRP if memory serves me correctly, if I was doing it again though I'd go for something different, the tolerances on the frames were terrible, and I had to make different base cushions as the standard ones were lousy. Seatbelt passthroughs were really annoying too. If I did it again, I'd make my own I think.

So they weren't very good and wouldn't recommend them to anyone?
@KYLEENGINEERS

Well, they are comfy and hold you well as far as a suspension seat goes, so if you want something that's 80% right and works well once you fix it up I can recommend them... But if you're starting from scratch I reckon go with something different.
