Homemade 450hp V8 Sand Rail Dune Buggy Restoration Project

This was my first video project that I produced for my friend Joe back in era 2005, that sparked my passion for storytelling. Joe built this 450hp sand rail from the ground up to make sure it works but now he has to strip it down and get it ready for paint and then put it back together again. If successful with putting it back together this monstrous 4 seater long travel dune buggy sandrail will be taken out to the dunes of Pismo Beach California for a test/joyride.

In my design the front leafs are connected to a "tie rod" like tube going down to the lower a-arm. The ability to change the length of the tube via heims and also where it connects on the A-arm I think would allow for a ton of adjustability and fine tuning. You can adjust ride height with affecting spring rate. Try that with a coilover...not.

It’s awesome, lots of power. Buggy is a little heavier compared to others is the only downside.

if you set out to build the worlds ugliest sand rail you have certainly accomplished that reinvent the wheel much that it pile on and extra 120 lbs in leaf springs thatyou could achieve with 20 pounds of coil spring this car is so backassward designed i almost can't believe somebody would build something this stupid

Don’t remember the specific model of transmission Joe was using but I know it came out of an air cooled VW bus.
