When I listen to the words of this song I hear and feel struggling with the confidence in knowing they are loved, supported & good enough. Over the past few years I have watched helplessly as my life partner slipped into deep depression with breakdowns and suicide attempts. For those of you/us who know what it is to be close to someone who struggles with mental illness and being shut out by a loved one fighting to be, grasping at the thread of living, those who have reached a point where they truely believe eliminating their people from their lives is the only solution 😢 Mental Health is silent and invisible. Just because that person looks ok, has a good job, has a good relationship, has tangible touchable objects does not mean they are ok.

I’ve never related to a song so much… Since I was 8 years old, I’ve been with all the wrong guys. They were all disgusting and treated me so wrongly. But there was one…that I can still say I love you to…with different intentions than him. He was so amazing, so wonderful, so hilarious, so kind-hearted and sweet and supportive…he was literally perfect in every way to me. I wanted to be with him until we died together. But at the same time..I hated myself for many different reasons. I began to question “Why me? Why would he still choose me?? There are so many better girls out there, WHY ME???” I was idiotically in such disbelief that this was reality and that he was as real as he was, as real as he is. One day, I told him I needed to leave him to “be with someone else”. I couldn’t bring myself to tell him the truth and still struggle to explain everything. But that…was the biggest mistake in my life. And only brought my self esteem down to the pits of hell. What I did to him…what I put him through…I’ll never forgive myself. I told him I did but…I can’t. To this day, I regret everything from that. Regardless, I’m more than grateful to still have him as my best friend and still be talking and hanging out with him…but I can’t help but wish we were still together… I wish I could just go back and fix what I did just to be with him again…the only person that’s given me true real happiness and made my dreams come true. The person who opened my eyes to reality and my future and all that I wanted and would be happy with. I wish I could live like that again… But deep down..like Kyle is saying…in all honesty, he’s probably better off without me. I know he deserves the world…which is more than I gave him. I just have to accept what we have and keep myself from wanting more…for him. No matter how much it hurts inside. No matter how much it makes me cry…I have to stay strong and be happy that I still have him at all.
