Wow! I'm 64 and used to play in church, but never was half as good as Kyle. What talent! In this version of Canon in D, I hear everything from jazz, bazurka, waltz, old time gospel, Chopin, sonata, Rachmaninoff, etc. Wish he could teach me some things on the piano.

You can see how much video game music is inspired by classical music by listening to this improvisation. I will continue listening in the background. Cheers Kyle (been following you for a while now, maybe 3ish years)

I read your comment and was like "...nah not really." and then a minute later I was hearing Corneria Castle from Final Fantasy 1 in what he was playing. Nice.

Medigo Tenkage I heard so much here that could have easily inspired Uematsu and Sugiyama (FF and Dragon Quest composers) and even some animes (Hisaishi comes to mind). It's a bit mindboggling. :)

I've been listening to quite a few of his videos now, and this is definitely the area he's best at. I don't really find his shorter covers very interesting, for many reasons... but here he is just playing for 25 minutes straight with improvisation, and he does this really bloody well! I'm impressed by how good the whole 25 minutes are "composed" as well (ye not really correct to call it a composition). This is really great work and I love listening to this video🎹🎶
@CasualGraph9 жыл бұрын
This is like the culmination of the Canon's derivative works. The original was a clever little round that produced a good sound, but I've noticed that more often than not it's milked for it's melody rather than it's original composition. Don't get me wrong, while I like how beautifully the original handles it's repetitive bass line and it's main melody's little trick, I'm not saying that's the only interpretation that works. It's minor rewrites for groups Pachebel didn't have in mind make a fairly good use of the melody, heck the melody's got what you could call cameos in several other songs that still work rather well. While we could discuss it's effect on music as a whole, I'm content to say that the way this video milks it out to every false end and alternate mood before it gets to it's grand finale is what could be called brilliant, especially on account of it's improvised nature. I'll conclude with a tip o' the hat for that.

David L Sumner Eh, it's a beautiful piece. The only reason why it's so dull is because it's been played to death, but Kyle did a great job on rejuvenating this piece.
@DavidSumner9 жыл бұрын
AlcaAMV No i agree its a very beautiful piece (Probably why its so popular at weddings). I just stated that it can get a tad dull to play after a while (its one of the first classical pieces that i have learned to play.) Kyle always brings this piece back to life for me.

My fellow pianists! I have a question. I just bought a Korg SP-250 and am so happy with it. Started playing months ago but here's my question: I want to record my plays so do I need something like a Midi-USB thing? Also, I bought a jack 1/4 for a few bucks to use my headphone while playing but the sound is so bad. It's almost as if it's not giving 100% of all the sound but just 40%.... HELP! Oh, and nice side view Kyle! Been following you for more than a year and you motivated me to start playing!
