Kyler Murray is never ever going to study and pick up these concepts... he already got his guaranteed bag of money. He's going to rely on his athleticism and basically go YOLO on his NFL career while he plays Call of Duty every night. Its maybe the most underserved contract in NFL history and the Cardinals organization are going to feel the consequences for the next decade.

If he was playing in an earlier decade…. That snap might have ended his “short career “. Say hello to: Lawrence Taylor, Wilber Marshal, Harry Carson, Bill Romanowski, Sam Mills, Ricky Jackson….. just a few names when they could take the QB to the ground HARD 😮 Wrap them up….. Use the forward momentum to lift the QB While maintaining control of the QB and continued momentum Plant said QB to the ground bringing the full weight of the pass rusher on top QB and drive the shoulder thru him. Yeah…. He’s lucky to be playing QB in a time of guaranteed contracts and pass rushers on a “short leash “.

hear me out, this is how you get kyler to 'study:' NFL owners get together and fund a football simulation video game (Madden). The game would allow teams to load scouting reports and their own playbooks into the game. Then, as Kyler just does what he does, enjoying playing video games, he is presented with all of the scouting info dynamically as well as provided with the tools his team has to counter. Now all of a sudden Kyler's desire to play video games even while everyone is at his house to celebrate his birthday becomes a strength because he's 'studying' instead. Hello next Tom Brady! then we'll hear how his fiance asks him to sign a pre-nup to ensure he spends time with her and any offspring instead of 'studying' 24/7 ie playing video games. (ha, next Tom Brady =P)

Even with that dumb logic, the guy still only just gets bumped, so he’s slowed down for a second not blocked, to make it work Murray would have to fire quickly knowing he only has a couple seconds till the corner gets to him. Neither of these things happened, but the most important part is Murray didn’t even know it had a possibility of happening, therefore he needs to study more.

DB blitz doesn’t usually accompany a chip, that’s generally Edge rushers immediately exploding off the line and the chip helps buy a little time. A defensive back blitz is disguised in its creation to be tricky or sneaky, sometimes delayed waiting for the receiver or tight end to get into their route tree before they engage into the blitz so the chip in that situation is futile

@@bigbsportstalk It's a potential 4 on 3, so different ways of handling from a pass protection perspective. If you watch the full clip, you'll see that the right guard and center both move to the interior tackle. Off rip, someone is wrong. As you say, they could be squeezing and Kyler is responsible for the edge blitzer. But I don't know why they would do that in this situation when the middle backer hasn't really stepped into the gap. By your logic, every time there's a double A gap bluff an edge rusher (which the DB is effectively operating as because he's not coming space) would be free which isn't always the case. The fact that the center and guard stepped into the same gap and Kyler looked completely unaware persuades me to think that the oline messed up the protection. But I could be wrong.

So I understand what you’re trying to say, but this is not an uncommon disguise. They often put a guy up there and don’t blitz him because they’re coming from somewhere else. The TE was supposed to chip him if he came inside, and leave him if he doesn’t.

I that situation, QB should be aware, but it doesn’t mean that it’s always a blitz. At that level full game play calls and season setups are needed for context….that being said : treat every gun as if it is loaded.

Kyler Murray is an athlete playing qb. It works in high school and sometimes college. Rarely in the nfl. Nfl coaches dumb down the playbook for these types of qbs. Because they know they’re not that smart.

I don’t know if anyone mentioned this already, so if so, my bad. Shady (LeSean McCoy) just went off on Murray! I’ll copy and paste a couple paragraphs from this article from a cbs article and put the link at the bottom. "He's trash. Overhyped. Overrated," McCoy said. "He plays like a high school player. Runs around, runs backward, he does a circle, the ballerina circle, then goes left, goes right, turns all the way around again, then looks for a wide receiver. That's not how you play quarterback." Asked why Murray should get criticized for his freestyling when someone like Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes is unanimously beloved, McCoy pushed back on the comparison. "He ain't Mahomes," said McCoy, who spent 2019 in Kansas City. "Let me tell you about Mahomes real quick: the majority of Mahomes' passes are (based on) timing. Third step, hit, boom, ball's out. Fifth step, boom, ball's out. Now sometimes he goes off script, we all can do that ... (but) not every pass! Every pass, (Murray is) holding the ball, let's make a miracle. Every game he's played. Watch him play. It's really embarrassing, to be honest. Like, who's coaching this kid?" He says more, here’s the article: www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/lesean-mccoy-slams-cardinals-qb-kyler-murrays-play-style-hes-trash-plays-like-a-high-school-player/?fbclid=IwAR31Lof8JSX3qH-bERzxDPEu78_H3x-7FAN9s9MLZpMMJ4nNDSdFbSJGJQw

HINDSIGHT IS 20/20 Yes, that defensive formation was an indication of a blitz but it wasn’t an “absolute fact” that it would be a blitz. Defenses often show blitz and then back out of it when the ball is snapped. “Absolute fact” that was funny.

You're right he didn't even see the safety playing up or the free blitzer a good qb either slides the protection or gets the ball out to the flat quickly Edit, for a 200 million plus you have to be able to make pre snap adjustments

....OR the OL is responsible for checking the pass protection (common, even at the NFL level) and they decided to pick up the Mike instead of the OLB off the edge (which they probably should have done), leaving Kyler assuming his edge was handled. QBs don't look to a guy who should be blocked. With a 4x1 formation, preference would be leaving the Mike, as that's much easier to throw 'hot' off a free Mike (when running mesh). Also, not saying he does study...maybe he doesn't. BUT lets not jump to conclusions without the actual information 🤷‍♂
@Dyswtric2001

KC brought 5. The o-line should have sled right to account for the nearest man. If they bring 6 (the middle LB 4 yards back), the extra man is Kyler’s and he has to get the ball out ASAP. But to prove half of your point, he should know that he only has 5 guys and he has to get the ball out fast. Mahomes basically had max protection so not apples to apples but I get the gist of your point.

Yes sir this is correct. we called it a fan call in hs where the last linemen needs to get his ass out there to the blitz and the guard slides to block that 5 technique
@Dyswtric2001
@Dyswtric2001 2 жыл бұрын
@@ryandolan5146 I played center in college and we (the centers) controlled the protection and who the RBs were responsible for. Obviously in this play it was their 5 against our 5. The NFL can be (and seems to be) different because the QB can control the protection more. Slide or fan protection was our bread and butter because it is easy to understand and if the D-line does stunts or LBs blitz it is easier to pick up.

If you know the cardinals the play tempo kyler been knowing defense it’s actually one of his better attributes most reason he doesn’t find his read is because his o line and he’s small so he has to throw off his back foot most times witch he’s extremely good at as well you showed one good play where didn’t see it but that’s because zack is supposed to chip that blitzer for kyler has jss enough time to hit Connor who he was looking at you can see the play was called for that blitz so it’s execution more than anything and as cardinals fans know execution is something we don’t have rn🤦‍♂️
