My day today went pretty well. In the morning I went really slow and explained all the rules and routines. It went well for quite a while. Students began to get a bit restless later on in the day and I had to speed it up a bit. My students really liked the small challenges that I gave them. I underestimated how tired I would be by the end of the day.

I teach fifth grade in a year round school. We basically teach six weeks get off two. There is enormous pressure to get right back into content. Any suggestions?

Wow that sounds interesting. I would suggest doing all of the things in my video but just a shortened version. For example for each academic activity over emphasize the routines and procedures for the activities. Do you have a self contained class or do you have different classes throughout the day?

hey... i teach 11th grader.... and my subject is religion.. could you give me some tips on how to do some activities for my students?

Thanks for the question. When I was in high school I always liked doing projects. I took a religion course and I had to learn about the religion and make a report about it. We could choose any medium to present our findings. We did it as a group of 4 students and we made a video explaining about the religion. One idea could be to have students do independent research projects on a topic. Let them chose the topic and how to present ie. essay, video, power point, poster ect.
