Hey Kyle Not meaning to talk trash at ya, So don't take this wrong. I live in Co. And believe me, Our gold ain't much bigger. Just more of it. I think if you dig in a straight line across the gravel beds (like 3 or 4 lines) 10' to 15' apart and least 2' deep you'll find the pay streak in that creek And I know it sucks and time consuming. But classify. Especially in places with clay. Overloading your sluice only washes your gold away. You'd do better running your tailing's again. Yeah, I know! I'm a new sub. But Grandpappy always said, When the old dog can't learn new tricks? Better get a shovel, Cause he's dead........ I know, everybody an expert adviser. And we weren't there that day. But you catch my drift. Good work on your vids. Later man.

I love it there the creeks are so much more better looking than ours lol

classifying down to a 1/2 inch will speed the feed into the box dumping in your second bucket like that you are loosing any gold you may have by not allowing it to travel down the box and you are just beating up your box with those big rocks needlessly. *if your box is "Clogged with Haematite" than any gold will just bounce out and flow out the end*

I read about how to make an industrial tumbler out of a rear axle of a big semi truck with the rims and tires in place. You want to cut an opening in the highest part of the rim to load rocks. The article said a cover is not needed but I always thought if I was going to do one I would have a hinged door sealed with inner tube rubber. The idea is to set up a motor geared down so the tires rotates slowly and all the rocks stay in the lowest part of the tire at all times tumbling over each other. Each tire can hold about 100 lbs of rocks and you have 4 tires going at all times each one with a different grit. Always use same tire for the same grit. You rotate the rocks once a week and you have a 100 lbs of polished tumbled stones each week. I have been wondering if you could use quartz sand as grit for the first stage to do the rough rounding off? I am posting this on all videos about rock hounding to spread the idea, if this is you channel and you do not like that let me know. The fact that the tumbling will all take place in a rubber tire should help keep the noise down. The rocks should never touch the rim. I have suggested to people that they make a sound proof shed just big enough to be practical so the noise will be minimized. Plus the rubber in a tire is thick and should absorb a lot of the noise. Also you should have a small fan on the motor to keep it cool. A high quality motor will be a must as it will run 24 hours a day. I am no expert but with the proper gearing the motor should not be under too much stress. I would sell the tumbled stones. Once tumbled, you grade them by quality and type. Some would be really valuable. I bet you could average $10 usd per pound with just good found material and more if you have high grade material. Definitely not for the weekend rock hound but if you sell stones or want to, what a cheap way to start. You could tumble other people's rocks for a fee or shares too. You could make one with car tires for a smaller scale operation. There has to be a lot of people with a 30 year in the making, 3 ton pile of rocks out behind their house. With this they could see results from all that collecting.
@OutdoorswithNick5 жыл бұрын
Wowzers that's alot of material to be dumped in the box at one time ... Lol... Just a thought if you dig in the water in front of the a52s as well as a wing dam the water flow will increase and want to go threw the sluice ... Great video and some sweet finds!!

Great gold again Kyle expecially for a new spot. You need to look into a thing I saw on Vogus prospecting which is a cloth water gathering system. It takes a small flat Creek with no flow like yours and directs the water with a system of cloth pockets that fill up and direct towards the middle. It would allow you to run that sluice properly.

This might be stupid comment since I'm new to this stuff but is there any way or even a possibility of figuring out a path history for that river? Don't rivers meander left and right over time? Further up river better? Water seems slow but like I said I might be dumb at the present time relative to my experience
@willlinke28495 жыл бұрын
So I was wrong about lower end of oxbow...go to upper end inside where there should be some coarser gravel. That's the first drop point for heavy stuff based on a vid by askjeffwilliams. I was right about angling in toward bank tho. Test pan across that coarse gravel in 3 spots. Top middle and center. Where you find the best samples from each pan in each trench draw a line through each of those spots and that's your pay streak he says. Got me wondering if there's gold in Wisconsin now 😆

You should classify the material as you put it in your bucket before you carry the material because it looks like your carrying more big rocks than the smaller gold bearing sands and gravel, and then you can get more material through the sluice for the same amount of work

If you wanted flow Kyle Thiemann, you simply had to dig yourself a bit of a trench, say a foot deep in the rivers bed, set your sluice in deeper, more flow...if you dug deep enough, using the whole width of the creek you could essentially use the entire creeks water volume (pressure) to maximize your flow rate.
