So as I guy who grew up with Kylie this was another turning point in her career. Kylie was seen in Australia as a very produced singer. People didn’t think she had talent, I did though - I knew she did let’s be clear about that, but lots of people thought it was all studio trickery. I’d been to her Intimate and Live show in Sydney where she sang everything live and I’d seen how good she was, but Australian’s are big on the Tall Poppy syndrome and Kylie was cut down a lot as she was seen to be too big for her boots. She’s now universally loved and admired so time changes everything. Thank goodness. I’d loved her ever since Locomotion but wouldn’t admit it. You’d be called a fool back then. Anyway we have an alternative music radio network Triple J and they would never play Kylie. I was in the car with a friend who listened to JJJ exclusively and Confide in Me came on. She was staunchly anti-Kylie. She was listening and once again stating that songs like this were whey she listened to JJJ. I started to laugh and she wondered why. I told her to wait till the end. When they announced it was Kylie her mind was blown. This was another facet of Kylie’s amazing career. You should hear her do it live. Incredible!! Oh and you still need to react to “What Do I Have To Do”

Wrong look and odd vocal tone made her tank in the international markets. Hey, at least she went further than Danni
@petervee92152 жыл бұрын
I don't know what you call the international market but first female with number ones across four decades and number ones in every major international market, she's done better than a lot of other female artists. And she's still.going. Of course you're entitled to your opinion but I think you're wrong.

Deconstruction era Kylie is my favorite Kylie. Check out "Put Yourself In My Place", "Where Is The Feeling", "Some Kind of Bliss", "Did It Again", "Breathe", "Cowboy Style", and "Free" (live version). If you liked "Confide in Me", you should watch her sing it live. She does a great job at holding those long high notes. I also recommend the "Big Brothers Mix" of Confide in Me. That remix is a work of art.

"Kylie Minogue", is an album that went in a new, different direction musically. It explored different genres and with the help of new producers, it gave her more of a "grown-up", new sound to her music. This wouldn't be the last time she delivers something different. As mentioned before, the "Impossible Princess" album also does the same. It is also a must listen to album. Take a listen to, "Where Wild Roses Grow" a duet with Nick Cave and "GBI (German Bold Italic) by Towa Tei feat. Kylie. They are both very different. Enjoy!🎶

One of my favourite all time Kylie songs. You must watch it live. It is even better! The original video actually does have a phone number on the screen but I know it has been removed from some versions. The video is based on chat line ads that were big in the 90’s. So the video to me is the lure of addiction and being careful of what you confide in. Shes dressed as violence, "love", drugs, food and so on and the sound is this snake charming kind of vibe as you rightfully said "hypnotizing" luring you into the bad confidants that people turn to in times of heartbrake and sorrow and trouble instead of actually confiding in their closest people. Took me a few times to get the narrative of the video but I do believe I am correct in my interpretation of her vision for the video!
