Too often great Kylie songs are let down by ordinary remixes. I get a real Impossible Princess vibe from this song, an album which had outstanding remixes. Fingers crossed!

You did the right thing not comparing this to "Confide in Me!" The thing is that before "Confide", Kylie was a joke in most people's eyes (including mine), but with that song she just went *BOOM!* in every nervous, trend focused brain (including mine!), and ever since, she's just one of the major popstars! I think we need a portion of nostalgia to a song to decide upon it's relevance and its degree of epicness, but I think *Padam Padam* will become one of the greats. ❤

I totally get your comments about the video not reflecting the lyrics of the song. With some of Kylie’s videos I have felt annoyed by this myself, particularly Get Outta My Way. However, I think the strength of THIS video is the fact that it ISN’T set in a club. That would have been far too predictable and she’s already done that many times before (Spinning Around, Magic, Wow). I personally absolutely love this video. I can’t really put my finger on it but it totally works for me. Set in parts in rather derelict-looking American landscapes provides further edge to what is already a somewhat darker-sounding, edgier song (at least for Kylie). The theme of red throughout is striking and also a little sinister (which I like too). The quirky things she and her dancers do in the diner are also eye-catching and unexpected. I also love the choreography. Some of Kylie’s dance routines in the past have been a bit, ahem, naff and some of this is a bit naff too - but for some strange reason it works. A lot of it is quite simple and that makes it cool to me. Not trying too hard. There also seems to be real harmony between Kylie and her amazing dancers. Overall I think it’s a rate moment where all the elements of a pop single come together - song, video, clothes, choreography and Kylie’s performance. Personally cannot wait to dance to this - I know it will drive the club absolutely nuts.

Yeah the video is unexpected. Instead of a serious American style sexy video, instead she went down the quirky slightly humorous, off beat kind of weirdness to reflect the icy cold weird sound of the song. It works and I find the video funny but it deliberately doesn't do what you expect. Shes definitely not taking the song too seriously!

I totally agree with you about the video. In my view, it was just OK. But they keep hiring Sophia Muller who has done all recent Kylie videos. Sophie has run out of ideas and recycling from previous Kylie videos. As you said, with those lyrics and that beat. Any other director would've killed it. Choreography was a bit better but not great! Again with those lyrics, come on. There's not challenge in the choreo. Since they were showing Mars of some other planet so much, I. thought this was going to be a super edgy video with killer outfits for the dancers and stuff. You nailed it. The song and Kylie 10 out of 10. The video a 6 and the choreo a 7
