I've bathed many shibas. No screaming, just read the dog and work at a pace that calms their nervous system. Groomers have time constraints so it is too much too fast for a shiba. Nervous system goes nuts.

It was a pain but I loved it when my dog would suddenly get an urge and she'd jump out of the tub all wet and soapy. It was so hilarious. The only time she complained was when I gave her a bath after she rolled around in a dead fish at the park. She went through all that trouble to smell good for me and I wash it off. I get it.

I cannot give my Shiba a bath anywhere but home, but he's very very good with it. Surprisingly, he's like yours where he can get wet he can have soap once I wash the soap off. He starts crying, but he doesn't go crazy but the reason why he can't have a bath anywhere but home is because once I let him out. He's gonna have Zumiez for like 30 minutes.

We legit have to give our Shiba a bath every year because somehow he picks a fight with a skunk. Never a kill, ever, but now has PTSD with the word "spray" and it's sound... Or anything that will spray. It's wild. We get the Shiba scream each time and the baths... Well... It's another level of straight emotions from him. On an aside, these dogs are generally VERY clean and never smell (except when skunked)

My shiba is also very good with baths/water and never really smells. She just sits there looking sad trying to make me feel bad for bathing her lol. I also only bathe her once after the fall when her allergies subside a bit.
