Man I want to drive your track Addam the dirt master seems to handle decent good looking buggy
@AddamsPlayground Жыл бұрын
Whenever you are strolling through here by all means you are more than welcome to come tear it up out there! The DM handles really well and other than fighting for grip o the dry, dusty track it went really well! between the punchy motor and the slick track it took a few laps to figure out how much throttle it would take. overall it did great but with a damp track it would have dropped a second off the time I am sure!

It is a really nice buggy and it drives very well. The dry and dusty track did it no favors and with a powerful 2wd it wanted to spin around all the time but that was the track and a heavy throttle finger as usual. I got it figured out and about half throttle it was happy. I will get it out on the day where it is not so dry and see if I can get those time down in to the low 10s! The paint job was saved by the stickers, I am mostly annoyed with myself for rushing it and messing up in the first place. Self loathing if you will!! LOL!!

Well it sure looked like you were enjoying throwing this one around the track, Addam! Even if it was a bit slippery! It looked so good when you hit those high and wide lines around the turns, kicking up the dirt with a little oversteer - pure RWD buggy joy! The Dirt Master also sounded very smooth and quiet, seems like you found the perfect brushed motor for it. I know it will be faster with better track conditions. As for the paint job, it looked fine to me out there and was well worth trying something different, even if it was a frustrating process! All the best, dude! :))
@AddamsPlayground Жыл бұрын
Thanks Mark! It was a blast to drive and I was having fun flicking it around the corners slinging the dirt and dust! I was so dry and dusty traction was very limited, I could only give it about half throttle. We have gotten some rain this week so I will try and get back out there for another rip to see if I can knock some time off the laps. I really like this one as it is kind of a best of both worlds buggy. Classic looks on a more modern chassis so it looks great and runs very well! The paint is good enough but far from what I wanted. I am mostly annoyed with myself for goofing it up by trying to rush things and I know that is a horrible idea! Take care!

I enjoyed the video. Your track looks good. It's very much like vintage tracks of the past with a loose racing surface. You can't really see the paint issues. 17.5 is a good choice for the buggy. The 17.5 buggy class is extremely popular. As others have said, I enjoyed the close up filming at the end. The slow motion section really allowed us to see the loose dirt.

Nice job Addam.👍🏻👍🏻 A terrific looking buggy, with performance to match! The suspension looks perfectly setup for your track. Before I brought clay in for my track area, it was pretty loose and dusty like yours. I used to wet it down with a couple fills of a watering can and let it set for 3 or 4 minutes before running an RC on it. Worked wonders for traction!

I had clay on my last track and it help up very well. I was awful to work with to get set up but once it was done it was great. I opted for regular dirt for this one since this is in what was my dad's garden for the longest time and it would break his heart to see some clay being dumped out there on it! Might be the best but it was the best option at the time. I would have normally wet it down before the run but we have been so dry for so long I have tried to take it easy on the well! @AddamsPlayground Жыл бұрын
Do you not like the design of it or the paint on the wing? I prefer this over the Jegs stinger by far, it is a class above that and the build quality and the plastics are way nicer. The stinger is a decent buggy but with the dirt master I can bang it off of a pipe on the track and not think twice about it. Smacking one with the stinger I am going to assume something may have broken. Speed and traction wise they are about the same, the stinger is a little more light in the front end but that is easily fixed by adding a little weight.

When I initially built it I thought of doing all in the carpet but decided to leave just the inner part that way. I makes for a challenge for sure. If the track were a little less dry and dusty it would have been a bit easier to get around it without getting all squirrely! I do like to be able to slide it around the corners and stuff and if it were all turf then I would only be able to run the more racy buggies out there as the trucks are older design buggies like to flip and roll over too much. Either way not ideal for all cars but leaving it this way is more than likely what is going to happen, to much money and work to carpet the rest of it right now! I am just a goof ball driver and will never be a racer, I don't have the competitive bit in me! Smiles and power slides make me happy!

I think it is a really great buggy and with some moisture in the track and not so dusty it would have really moved out there. Considering I could only give it about half throttle there was a lot lot left in it! It felt really smooth and stable overall, it was only the lack of traction that was hurting it. Even the 4wd buggies would have struggled in those conditions. Makes awesome rooster tails around the corners though! I'm glad you enjoyed the run! once we get some rains and the track gets grippy I will get it back out there!

Doesn't look bad Addam...just get some battle scars on it, eventually you won't even notice. I've ruined my share of paint jobs, you are not alone. Good to see it running, looks like it has some oversteer? or maybe it's the loose surface.
@AddamsPlayground Жыл бұрын
The stickers hide a lot and the camera seemed to be kind to it as well. It is a good enough paint job but far from what I had envisioned. I am mostly still just annoyed at myself for rushing it and goofing it up. It looks way better running around the track though. Overall it drives and handles very well. most of the sloppiness is from the track being so dusty and slick and me trying to figure out how much throttle it would handle out there. After I dialed back the throttle finger it got a bit better and faster. I think on a damp track day it would have gone around much faster and more consistently.
@rcinhand9671 Жыл бұрын
You hid the imperfections well. I couldn't see them in the video. From the run, it looks like those tires love slipping in the dirt! Do you think they're too hard?
@AddamsPlayground Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I was going for a sticker free paint job but had to slap a bunch on to hide the really rough spots! The camera seemed to also be kind to it and not show too much of the blotchiness in the colors. It turned out good enough and it looks much better running around the track! The tries on this are pretty good and nice and soft. When the track is that dry and dusty everything struggles for traction. I did not water it down as we have been in such a dry spell I don't like using but so much unnecessary water since we are on a well here. We have gotten some rains recently so I will try to get it back out as I think it will go around much faster!

@AddamsPlayground Жыл бұрын
Hi Daniel, I am doing well thanks for asking! Hope you are doing well also! It is a really fun buggy and it drives very well! The very dry and dusty track made it struggle to find grip but I will try and get it back out after some rain to see what it can do with some grip! It comes with a clear body so you can paint it whatever color scheme you wish. The box design is a simple red and black but you can do whatever color you wish (as long as it is a polycarbonate acceptable paint) and the stickers it comes with are simple white and black ones that will go well with most any color.

Hello Adam, I plan on building mine next week. I bought all of the carbon parts I could find. I also bought Kyosho aluminum dampers for the car. I got a ball diff for the car. I bought metal shims for the car, hopefully I bought enough shims. I bought metal nuts to replace the plastic ones. I also got Kyosho universals as well. Thoughts?
@AddamsPlayground Жыл бұрын
Wow! You went all out and are going to make it a true race buggy! Only thing I would not have done personally is the ball diff, I am still not a fan of them and prefer a gear doff over them. I just dislike the fiddly nature of the ball diffs and love the durability of most gear diffs. Personal preference there! Other than that you got yourself a blueprint for a rocket!

Thanks for the video. The car seems uncontrollable, and your track is dry. You may get slightly better results if you wet that track.
@AddamsPlayground9 ай бұрын
The track was packed down and super dry so it is like driving on sanded concrete. It have been better on a raked out and damp track. It takes about 150ft of hose to reach out to the track so that does not usually happen. We are also on a shallow well so in the summer when there is very little rain like we had I try and not use a ton of excess water as well. I do need to take it back out, I was hoping to have the new body painted but I keep neglecting to do it!
@David-e6d6n Жыл бұрын
Do you recommend the car I like it because it reminds me of an rc10 I started racing in the 90s with an Ultima but I could never get it to compete with the 10s so I switched
@AddamsPlayground Жыл бұрын
I do recommend it! It goes together very well and feels great out of the box. It is Kyosho's older RB% platform they have redone the plastic composition to get rid of the carbon infill to make it cheaper but don't worry, it is still quality. So it is a more modern buggy wrapped in a classic style look. So you get a bit of the best of both worlds in it. I built mine per the instructions and it drives great. I just need to manage the throttle a bit better! LOL!

Cool thank you for the input I was him and hawing between this and the bbx
@AddamsPlayground Жыл бұрын
@@David-e6d6n Personally I would go with the Dirt Master if performance is the driving factor. The BBX has it beat in looks but in performance and tuning the the Dirt Master is a better choice IMO.

Id have a lot more kyosho if there was product support here in Canada
@AddamsPlayground Жыл бұрын
To be fair the product support is pretty lousy here too. Most of the common parts are generally out of stock as well as most of the kits the majority of the time. I know things are even more sparse up there for you all plus the increase in price is not helpful either.

oh man i have to say Tamiya and Yokomo have nicer manuals than Kyosho How are those Holmes Hobbies motors 15,17,19 and 21 T ? I've seen several use them but no reviews about them (I have 15 n 17 myself but have not put them into use yet)
@AddamsPlayground9 ай бұрын
The Kyosho manuals are not bad, the Legendary series are bit easier to follow. This one was originally a race buggy manual so they are generally not as helpful and descriptive (I personally like the helpful and descriptive ones much better!). I have not built a Yokomo yet so I cannot speak to those but I adore the Tamiya manuals. There are a few kits where there were head scratching moments but many of them were my own fault LOL! I like the HH motors, they are inexpensive and work well. I have had no complaints out of them and they get better as the break in, but that is with many. I like the 17 and 19 the best. 15 is a little fast for the off road, works great for on-road. I am not speed crazy so I like the boost of speed and power but in a controllable way and the 17 and 19 seem to be my happy spot.

It is a great car and I enjoyed driving it! The poor track is so dry and dusty it was struggling to get traction. I will get it back out there once we get some rain and the dirt is a bit more grippy. It is going to be hard to tune anything with it being so dusty and powdery out there. I blame some of it on me too, it took a lot of throttle control to keep it in shape and I am terrible about that!
