Lovely car Glenn. I’m just putting the finishing touches to a Kyosho Beetle - but have a Turbo Optima to build. I also have a Javelin - and went chain drive with that - just to see what it was like. I think you’re definitely on to a winner with a sealed shell though - as the javelin almost had to be completely stripped to clean it after its first run! Keep the vids coming!

Haha I had the same issue when I ran the Optima Mid on the beach, I think it was 15 minutes of fun and three days to clean and re build it 🤕🤕🤕

Schmick vintage optima Glen. I had the first optima when it arrived on the shelves here in Australia. I painted it in red & orange. I eventually fitted the gold option house shocks when the stockers wore out...(I still have some of stock red shock parts) it handled even better with OH shocks. I raced it locally & won a few races in stock & modified. I eventually slammed the car including the body so that it ran only a few millimeters off the ground, & fitted a Reedy Red Dot modified motor & sanwa esc & raced it on an indoor concrete track. I sold it to the kid next door & he amazingly still has it but refuses to sell it back to me. I'd say today after about 25 or 30 rc cars over the years, that optima was & is probably my favourite rc car ever. If I was able get hold of, or if kyosho re-re'd the pro, I'd be torn as to paint & decal it like your stunning example, or do it in red & orange like my one. Love your content.

Glenn that looks mega. Been waiting on this for a while. It was well worth the wait. I love the optima pro with a blue and white paint job . Kyosho missed a trick with the original yellow and gold box art. The reason your pro is so low is the red shocks are shorter that the option house gold shocks. The pro came with the taller shock towers for the upgrade gold shocks. The red shocks box/instruction go on the lower holes which jacks up the ride height. Leave it where it is the pro look better slammed. The RERE optima/javelin driver does fit under the pro shell with some cutting. Looks pretty cool and solves the issue with the widows. No good if you want all the electrics installed it way to tight but looks great on the shelf.

I have never seen a Kyosho Optima Pro. I have seen a Kyosho Scorpion, Ultima, Optima Mid and the Turbo Optima.I even have a Kyosho Maxxum FF car. This car was a complete failure. I have never liked the bottom loading shocks that Kyosho makes. They do work okay. On my Scorpion I installed Kyosho top loading shocks. Much better. Thoughts on this? On my Kyosho Ultima I have the original bottom loading shocks, but I also have Kyosho top loading shocks for this car too. I have just have not got around to installing them. I do understand that on the Kyosho Legendary series they still have bottom loading shocks because that is how these cars originally came. I am hoping that Kyosho does re-release the Optima Mid. I had one but sold it. I regret selling it. If they do re-release it I would get one. Thoughts on this? Your car looks very cool.
