The complaints of chassis "faults" is because in the RC world we are used to shiny carbon fibre that's often still flexible as being high quality, while in engineering it's seen as the cheap option. The carbon used in most RC chassis made by putting layers of carbon fibre cloth into wet epoxy resin, then sandwiching it between two plates until the resin hardens. This gives a sheet of carbon fibre that has usually a shiny finish but the fibres are coated in a relatively thick film of resin. Prepreg carbon can be used, which is stronger, but part of the thickness of the chassis is still made up of the two outer layers of wet resin which reduces the amount of carbon fibre in the thickness. It looks like the JJ chassis is made from prepreg carbon. With prepreg the resin is infused into the carbon fibre as the cloth is being made, then these sheets are sandwiched in the mould and baked under pressure to make the carbon sheet. This means you have more carbon and less resin in the chassis, so the chassis is stiffer and lighter than the more common carbon fibre we are used to. There are two downsides to using prepreg, the most noticeable is that because the resin is dry as it's infused into the fibres, so cannot flow like wet resin, you get small voids between some of the fibres which are showing up on the chassis. The other downside of prepreg is that it's more expensive to make.

Nice build, seems to be high quality kit 👍will follow your upcoming videos 🙂

It is, just priced up the chassis, on its own. £180 😮 think i may put a little bit of tape on this one 😂

Great looking kit, a worry not to get the body wrong. The chassis will get scratched once run, I cannot see why people would worry unless it will sit on a shelf. That's has turned out a nice chassis, motor wires look a pain to run.
@lo2713 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, just got the motor fitted, you get a neat little clamp to go over the outdrive and hold the cables, works great, but still fiddly getting the wires in

Nice video Richard ;) look forward to see it running at Blackpool charged rc show. I’ve just fitted electrics in mine and got it all up and running, body to go now. Those shocks were a Fiddle and some of the e-clips I thought as well but I’m Cack handed ;) the build was nice though.

I hope so 🤞 just looked at the price kyosho want for the chassis, pretty much £200 😮 thats bonkers😂
@ThorstenWieking11 ай бұрын
Not sure if it is justified but I was expecting not that much wiggle in the steering. I was considering getting this as my first Kyosho since I like the clean, uncluttered look since the chassis is just one plate, but that steering is putting me of that plan. Thank you for this informative video.
@lo271311 ай бұрын
Hi thanks for watching, to be honest, it dont seem to effect the way it drives, and ive not seen many vintage cars without a bit of slop in the steering, if your thinking of getting one i would say go for it, its a great build and great to drive. If its your 1st Kyosho, you wont be dissapointed 👍

@@lo2713 thank you for your reply. I just watched your racing video and the comments. Now I am watching Andy Robinsons video on the car and might check the prices for spare parts (although I do not race and probably will never be harsh to a +400€ RC buggy anyway :)

Kyosho haven't said there an actual limited number, just that it's a one off batch of kits. I suspect Kyosho announced it, then made a single run of kits based on the number of orders from the shops.
