I wanted to thank you for this. The Phoenix temple is lovely and Uji is very interesting. Iwashimizu Hachimangu is gorgeous and I was the only foreign tourist there. The ride up in the cable car was a lovely canopy of changing fall colors. Unfortunately, I wasn't there at peak season but it was still lovely. I also think I confused the locals by not getting off at the Fushimi Inari stop. Didn't make it to Shimogamo but it's on the list for next time. Thank you again for the wonderful suggestions.

@HarpistinJapan Жыл бұрын
Hi Martin! Yeh the first place literally no tourists at most 1-2. Other places just I guess not a famous as the usual fushimi Inari / golden pavilion, so get less attention - unless tour companies bring people in but they came and left really quickly. I think if u go earlier then it’s gonna be even quieter. I arrived all the places at around 2-3pm lol coz I didn’t wana wake up early and I’m just slow. Yeah I do have similar videos for Osaka, also non touristy areas will be posting them too!! Thanks for your support and hope you have a fun trip!!!!!!

Hi Lisa, great video as always:-) I like your outfits in these video! Very Japanese 👍 May I ask you to do a video on what to wear while in Japan? Not the simple one (what to pack for the season you are traveling), but more on a fashion side? I am from Europe, but have been living in California for 20 years. I am really struggling with the way people dress here (not to offense anyone) and noticing that I am blending in 😂 Pandemic has made it even worse "the more we stay home the more we look homeless 😂😂😂) I am going to Japan in a couple of weeks and would like to make it as an opportunity to dress really nice while enjoying my stay there. Don't worry if you can't make it right away. I am sure I'll enjoy it anyway when you post it. I hope I am not alone who is interested in this topic 😊 Thank you ❤

Hello Lisa. Can you recommend a traditional style accommodation in Kyoto? We would like to visit the places you have shown. Or accommodation that you have stayed in? Thank you
@HarpistinJapan Жыл бұрын
Hi!! I unfortunately haven't stayed at a Machiya before! So I can't recommend those. The places I went to are all easily accessible via Kyoto station, so I would recommend staying there, can try Kyoto Richmond that area is nice and quiet and has a really great food street like literally right beside the hotel.
@tomservo9254 Жыл бұрын
Otagi Nenbutsu-Ji in Arashiyama. Get a taxi at the station and have them drive you there, it's a walkable distance but it's on the absolute edge of the city limits and quite a way's uphill so you're better off spending the day walking downhill on the return. I won't spoil the surprise but it's one of the most charming things I've seen in any temple in Japan.

Hi!! Yeah it is true they're gonna increase the prices... and even without the increase, it's not a good option for travelling around Kyoto. Better to use the Kansai pass for Kyoto and around. JR pass is only good for long distance travels - and A LOT of it within a week - which is just stressful and people just don't do that lol. Just separate tix and suica is much better. When are you planning for a Kyoto trip?

@@HarpistinJapan My trip for Japan will be in the middle of October for 14 days. I will be starting off in Osaka though. I will spend about 2-3 days in Kyoto and about the last 4 days in Tokyo. Financially planning out my travel cost, I believe the biggest expenses are when I go to Hiroshima from Osaka (round trip) and the one way shinkansen to Tokyo so I'm checking if the cost effectiveness of a 14 day JR rail pass is beneficial or just to buy individual tickets along the way.
