Tea ceremony is a great treat to experience. The scale of Nijo Castle is so impressive. I went in July 95F+ each day (ugh). Our days in Kyoto were during the Gion Matsuri festival with the huge tower floats and the city was electric. My favorite place there was the snow monkey habitat by the Katsura river. Also visited the Sanjusangendo (1,001 Golden Buddhas), Fushimi Inari Taisha Sembon Torii, Kinakuji (epic!), and Nishiki Market and Geisha district. I'd love to go back and explore Hokkaido and the cooler climate there. July was too much. Have been to Okinawa as well in June - again - super hot and humid. The only place that felt cool during my trip to the mainland was on Mt. Fuji and at Lake Ashi. For Okinawa, down in the limestone caves was a relief from the heat too.

You did so much! Goes to show how there is a huge choice of activities when visiting! The day after this vlog was filmed, we went into Gion (Geisha district). It was quite lovely there. We also went to Okinawa to finish up the trip in early April. It was fairly similar weather for our entire trip. Most days ranged from not needing a jumper to needing a jumper, coat, gloves and scarf etc! And all the moving from outside to inside of buildings meant removing/adding layers frequently throughout the day. That being said, it was great weather if you're not a fan of the heat! Also helps ease all the walking around. Japan's temperatures seem fairly similar to Australia's, so I'm not completely put off visiting in Summer at some stage. Honestly just want to go back again soon, regardless of the time of year! 😍
