I'm really glad Kyoto is rebounding with tourists allowed to visit again. It was pretty dire when Japan was closed, Kyoto was a ghost town and the city was facing bankruptcy. As much as the locals may dislike the endless streams of gaijin, the visitors sure do prop up the economy. I was lucky enough to visit Kyoto one November and it was stunning. I would love to go back, we only had one day there and it was not enough! Loved the video, really enjoyed seeing all the cool stuff you two bought!

Love Kyoto. Went to Japan back in 2016 and 2018 and we stayed in Kyoto for 11 days both times. Such a beautiful place, everything just felt so laid back when compared to Tokyo. We stayed about a 15 minute walk from the centre to our apartment so it was a nice walk into the main centre. We also went along the Philosopher's path. Wasn't expecting it to be that long and we already had a good walk to get to it, so we were tired afterwards, although the British pub on the way home helped 😂 We went during the start of the Cherry Blossoms and the one apartment we had the first year overlooked a river/stream that had them all along. Had an amazing view.

Hahaha! So much for "resisting" the cat jacket! Cute though. Still very green. Probably why it's less crowded. Full on koyo would see edge to edge people on that pathway. Which is an experience in itself. Don't go to Japan if you want to be 'alone" or enjoy scenery without people. Best to simply embrace the mass. The stamp is waves/water.

I'm not an extrovert, so when I do engage people, I do so carefully. While in Japan I was approached by an older lady in Hiroshima who was showing me several things not in the guidebooks and telling stories of her childhood and where things used to be before the bomb. Even had a printed handout that she gave me, so it seems like that's one of her missions, to tell Hiroshima's story and I'm so glad to have met her. When I was in Kyoto in September, the only uncomfortably crowded place was Fushimi Inari. Thankfully, most people gave up near the base and it was a peaceful walk to the summit.

After a bit of a walk and looking in various stores we found them!! We also ate lunch at the cheesesteak place, which for others is right by the store that sells the cat happi, and agree it was quite good. (We’ve been to Kyoto several times and didn’t feel bad about going all the way to Kyoto and eating cheesesteaks haha.) We didn’t make rings and instead walked from the end of the path to the Kyocera Museum of Art where there’s a big Takashi Murakami exhibit which was excellent. Thank you for such a great Kyoto itinerary idea! We had a wonderful and memorable day following シャーラの道.
