The reason why Gingka and many of his friends cheer for Tsubasa more is probably because Tsubasa's more of a close friend to theirs while Kyoya's a meanie.

People have to admit one thing, Kyoya is definitely stronger than Tsubasa, but Tsubasa fought against Ryuga using Dark Power, while Kyoya fought against Ryuga using raw power, and that's why the Battle lasted much longer. If Ryuga vs Tsubasa was about raw power, I'm sure Tsubasa would have lasted much longer too. So there is not a huge power difference between them right now.

kyoya > ryuga kyoya literally won against raw ryuga because he wasn't using the stolen power , ryuga as a pure blader wasn't strong as L-drago ,kyoya only lost to L -drago @@DomiEE

Whose power had Ryuga even stolen by then ? Hikaru? Fodder dark nebula bladers? All that power won't even make much of a difference and Kyoya fought Ryuga with stolen power of Tsubasa and Doji in the beginning and stopped soaring bite strike and the Ryuga stopped using the stolen power and L-Drago used it near the end

24:26 Tsubasa's eagle pulled him back from the darkness. This demonstrates that they share a pretty strong emotional bond. Kyoya's victory made perfect sense here. Although Tsubasa was powerful enough to defeat Ryuga's dark move once, Kyoya not only defeated Ryuga's dark move, but also forced L-Drago to possess him as it feared defeat. The only other blader who achieved this feat was Gingka. Tsubasa put up a good fight, but it's not easy to emerge victorious over a ferocious lion.

And Gingka achieved that with the light of friendship. Kyoya is the strongest blader without amps.

His friends were cheering for him, but Gingka broke Ryuga's special move (keep in mind that Ryuga also had Kyoya's power at this point) before he received help from the spirits of Kyoya, Hikaru, and Tsubasa. Personally, I would say that both are quite strong. The blader's spirit is what ultimately determines the outcome of a battle, and while Gingka is able to realise its maximum potential because of his deep positive bonds, Kyoya's desire to win and get better also tremendously strengthens his spirit. The blader's spirit is an indispensable part of the Metal Saga. Even Kyoya, who was once sceptical of the spirit, proudly tells Ryuga that he has the blader's spirit. This implies that the spirit is what ultimately makes all the difference between him and Ryuga (who doesn't really care about bonding with his spirit in the right way).

Kyoya also temporarily held off Soaring Destruction, which is much stronger than Bite Strike.

I guess the karma of cackling along with Doji (which was iconic and Yu did mean well, but Doji was the villain and Yu still aided him) is catching up to Yu by making him look bad in Metal Masters, which is a shame.
