having the power rangers version as a kid, it always amazed me the amount of metal they put in to this mecha. after combining them to gether & standing up the completed mecha, it always would land on the table with a thud
@CCLemon998 жыл бұрын
Honestly there isn't a ton in this one. More than Victory Robo, sure, but not enough to be a Chogokin mecha. There are a lot of mecha out there I wish had die cast in the feet for better stability. Jet Garuda comes to mind first... Gingaioh is easily the heaviest, though. They really toned it down for the American release.

I will have to say this was one of my fav mecha from sentai. I love the design so much and its theme song makes it more epic.

Thanks! How did it break?

The black transformation piece came off during normal use. I'm very careful usually so it is sad that it broke. And its a pain to find just the one zord on ebay.

Bandai America actually had plans to modify this with electronics out the wazoo as the "Deluxe Interactive Omega Megazord"- with assistance from Microsoft. They were planning to modify this DX toy to have special Microsoft tech inside plus a base, to connect to VCRs and download phrases into the toy via special data embedded in the Fox Kids broadcasts. It would've been similar to how the also Microsoft-backed "ActiMates" toys worked. They showed off a prototype, but it got scrapped at the last minute- the American sticker sheet still says "interactive" on it. I'm not clear as to why they scrapped it though- maybe it's because the electronics would compromise the toy somehow, maybe it would be too expensive, maybe it would too complicated to have Fox and/or other stations get all the equipment to broadcast the data. (That was one of the reasons Fox Kids died- many of the new Fox affiliates who defected to them after they got the NFL did NOT want FK, as they saw it as a roadblock in expanding their local news; hence in many areas it would be seen on another station.)

I'm guessing costs and maybe the cold reality that they were working on a feature that would likely never get used is what killed it. I mean, I even thought the TV Power Kamen Rider BLACK toys were dumb, but at least the mechanism is pretty basic.

The sticker sheet I had that came with the omega megazord did not come with the back decal for mars 3. (Is it supposed to be on the sheet or is it a separate decal?)
@CCLemon995 жыл бұрын
You can see the full decal sheet at 00:18. The decal is there...which makes it's omission on the PR version kinda strange.
@SamGarcia96235 жыл бұрын
@@CCLemon99 that explains everything. Because I have the PR version which apparently does not include that decal (yet ironically the instructions still call for it anyway).

Pity both names seem like the creators were running low on name ideas at least. Also they could have perhaps implemented Liner Boy in some fashion here, but ah well, the alternate mode is interesting and it's rare we see secondary modes with combined mecha, so it has that going for it. Great review. :)

Yeah, I will have to agree about Victory Mars. It's decent, but ultimately not that much better than Victory Robo. I thought it was the coolest thing when I first saw the Omega Megazord, but looking back, Beetle Mars is honestly the best thing about it, and that's it. And while it's got nothing to do with the toy, might as well, since the songs are a centerpiece of your reviews, I have to say that such an awesome, cosmic song (and its BGM version) is rather wasted on what was just a one-time asteroid crawler, when it better fit a ship that could battle in deep space. When I hear the song, I imagine something flying at light speed. LinerBoy, perhaps. Anyway, nitpick that's irrelevant to the toy itself.

You're right. Screw the hours I spend taking photos...the music the best part... :-/

Oh yes, Bandai- this is _much_ worse than cube animals. _What_ were these people thinking in 1999? Die-cast metal? A complex transformation! Pshh- kids and collectors will never go for that. We need more cell phones, _more_ gimmicks in our mecha, _more_ electronics! That'll sell like hotcakes fer sure!

@EVAUnit4A8 жыл бұрын
Well I'm not criticizing you or your opinion, but that wasn't transforming; that was tasteless parts-swaping without style. For a "real" mecha feel, _GoGo-V_ had the right idea, and _Boukenger_ wasn't far behind.
@CCLemon998 жыл бұрын
The fuck? Boukenger mecha is garbage. Hahaha
@EVAUnit4A8 жыл бұрын
I did _not_ say _Boukenger_ had a perfect mecha line. (If anything, DaiBouken was a good toy by itself. It isn't until you start getting it into combos that the flaws become apparent, but as a stand-alone it's fine.) What I said is that it has super vehicles that _feel_ realistic like those in _GoGo-V_.
