Maybe, but I am still curious what others will say. I am not planar blinded, but I do like planar sets very much because they can hit techs that you can't get at the same price points with anything but planar. And if you happen to have a nice dongle or dac/amp, nice to have a set that shows off those as well.

Great video as always!

@@ThatVideographerNick I have no experience with the PRX. So I can’t comment on sound. But what I can comment on is that the accessories on the T10 absolutely demolish the accessories on the PRX. I'd say the tuning followed the PR arc of tuning which was not that warm, but they brought the treble down to the right level. Should they do a warmer style like S08 or MP145, yes. But as I said, you should EQ the bass for fun. You can make it warmer especially with the PRX treble levels.

I've been eyeing T10 as an upgrade from my PR3 up until now (I've read in other comments you can't make a comparison though, since you didn't have a T10), but it seems this is a candidate worth considering. My greatest worry however is that the driver mesh/tape/whatever is not shown in the marketing materials for this iem, so they can easily pull a PR2 claiming it was never even supposed to be there... I'd certainly want to wait a bit and see how it goes at least a month or two, but then I was also planning a purchase on the 11.11 sale so the T10 might be the only safe option for now.

I had been using KZ IEM's before the T10, and initially I thought the T10 fit was far too tight, but over time I realise that the eartips that come with the KZ/CCA's are not that good and do not seal well. Sure the T10 is about $10 more expensive, than the PRX, but after two failed KZ/CCA IEM's which have been money down the drain, confidence in the reliability of their products is low. Yeah, there is a trade off in lowering the treble without foam or cotton and retaining a higher SPL. As I said, I was using 160mW and that will exceed your hearing. You just start noticing which tracks are mixed at different levels. Sadly you are blessed with extended hearing. I will say that KZ knew there was an issue but not sure they always hear it. I was thinking I was going to exit the video right at the beginning because of the same image throughout (I'm a sucker for stimulation, ik) but the quality of input kept me going and going. I have never owned a planar, I have owned KZ ZS10 Pro for over 5 years now, and they've been a blast to own. There is that point where things can get too loud, like described. Nonetheless, I got into the KZ rabbit hole because I have been looking for a working bluetooth adapter from the wires becoming an issue as a father to a newborn, but, because KZ ZS10 is starting to show it's insufficient for my new position, I must ask, those KZ PRX are open back? How well does it enable to hear my environment with/without music? My home Fidelio X2's have spoiled me on that matter, so that's my reference for peak spatial awareness with music on - which I understand an IEM can never have, my question is how close can it get and how close is KZ PRX. Thanks again for your excellent review, really got me on FOMO for my first set of planars.
@PaulWasabiiАй бұрын
No, not open back. KZ typically does decorative vents unless it is open back and then the marketing will show that. So no real spatial awareness on PRX. But it isn't FOMO as much as planars do render music slightly different and different is good. We are lucky to have the opportunity to explore at reasonable prices. With 11-11 almost here, keep an eye on PRX, might drop in price.

I never heard T10 but I suspect it uses S12 driver or close to it so no need to rush into PRX. The staging on PRX is actually quite good and better than some of the S12 units with the lowered treble. As I said, you need to be mindful of sources that emphasize upper mids as that will flatten a planar, a source light on bass will flatten it. Planars have enough treble air to sound big, it is usually trying to get the depth that is harder and PRX does that as long as your source pairing is right.

Of the ten planars, I kept only the P1Max (Panda) for myself - as the most more or less even and very emotionally sounding of hi-fi equipment. I tried the same Shuoer S12/S12Pro twice - but both times it was sold. Compared to Panda, the S12's vocals are pushed into the background and the cymbals are always in front (because of this, listening is not so exciting, even Jean-Michel Jarre's synthesizers sounded peaceful and without a spark). But after purchasing the Simgot EW200 - I rarely listen to Panda, I sold Moondrop Aria 2, and I'm still trying to sell Xenns Tea2 - the last two models are crap.
@PaulWasabii2 ай бұрын
You fall in the looking for something different category as you tried S12. I would say enjoy P1Max and keep watching, I suspect there will be more planars trying different tunings as that is the area for growth.

KZ PRX isn't bad, but go right in the middle, KZ EDC Pro or KZ Saga Balanced to start. You can upgrade when you figure out your preferences
@Arc_Noir2 ай бұрын
Hi! I have the PR1 Pro. Are you saying that the PRX is an upgrade from PR1 Pro?
@PaulWasabii2 ай бұрын
It is as the treble tuning is better and it has the improvements from PR2 & PR3. PR1 Pro was nice though. If you EQ it, you are part of the way to PRX. That was the reality of most of the PR models, a lot of people were simply EQ'ing to a tuning close to PRX.
@andrews67562 ай бұрын
@PaulWasabii So if i have a PR1 that i'm happily EQing to my liking does the prx do anything better? Is the driver any more capable technically?

Hey Paul, I daily use my S12 Pro, is PRX a good backup or actually better?
@PaulWasabii2 ай бұрын
Its a good back up and some chance it appeals more to you. Its not a clone of S12, so there is still a different flavor to it. You have S12, wait until the 11-11 sales and see the PRX drops.

My guy, i own a pair of the kz zs10 pro x, should i upgrade to zs12 pro or pick the prx instead?
@PaulWasabii2 ай бұрын
I wouldn't jump to PRX unless you have a nice dongle. The problem is there isn't a direct upgrade from ZS10 Pro X, there is different. So ZS10 Pro 2 is a more modern, refined, less treble version with switches so you can adjust the bass. The ZS12 is different. but it looks cool with all metal build. ZS10 Pro X is a bit older, the newer sets don't sound the same and might just sound like sidegrades.

What's your opinion on the PRX VS the S08??
@PaulWasabii2 ай бұрын
S08 is a different sound, bassy, really warm, less technical. For people who like warm, thicker sound, it does that but that is different than S12 and PRX. S08 is tough, it is targeting people who like DD sets with that sound, not really planar fans.

@PaulWasabii2 ай бұрын
8k is a measurement artifact used for alignment.
@quochuynguyen7642 ай бұрын
Shout comes from excess ~ 1.2khz to 4khz, and even if the 8khz peak is real, it's narrow and the magnitude isn't too high and should not be that bothersome when listening to music

@PaulWasabii2 ай бұрын
Nope, that is a nice set as well, but slightly warmer tuning. That is like asking about S12 and MP145 too, did you waste your money on mp145 instead of S12, no they are different. Some people can't deal with the shells on MP145 so they might prefer PRX.

@PaulWasabiiАй бұрын
I would try your phone first. PRX is slightly harder to drive, but if you still have some volume headroom on PR3, might just work out for you. If not, look for something 70mW and over which will cover most of your IEM needs.

Probably the original Delci or Zero:Red. PRX is up there is treble and treble is SIMGOT's thing. Or if you just want to try something cheap, KZ EDC Pro. Almost in the middle of those.

I know this will be their best planar. Wonder will they make another PRX 1 2 3? PRX Pro? or this will be their nice stop at general planar and make other planar that sound different *warmer PRX huhh. Oh ya Paul, what I want to ask is will my 70mw DAC (7hz 71) enough to drive this set with my phone? And when I put my DAC on my laptop, the volume is loud enough at 12/100, does it says that I have a big power?
@PaulWasabiiАй бұрын
KZ doesn't stop, eventually there will be a PRX 2 or whatever. The power is more about headroom, can you get to the volume you want and have some extra. 70mW would be at the low end for me on that set. It will work, and depending on your listening volume, probably fine
