Maria Luisa "Jaya" Ramsey Gotidoc is the Queen of Soul in the Philippines who's been in the mainstream US musical scene where she got into the Billboard Top 100 with her single "If You Leave Me Now" from her album "JAYA" in October 1988 and it stayed in the list for 26 months, notching # 44 in 1990. She was also a backup singer of the legendary Stevie Wonder. Jaya is of mixed Filipino-Visayan and Jamaican descent and her mother Elizabeth Ramsey is likewise a singer who had plenty of gigs in Las Vegas in the 70's and 80's with some of the biggest names in the music industry, like Frank Sinatra, Harry Belafonte, and Sammy Davis Jr, who told Elizabeth's manager Mr. Lee to "Take care of this jewel. jaya had that title asia’s queen of soul after she won the Asia Pacific singing contest a year or two after Regine Velasquez won I think. I remember watching it on tv and the crowd was shouting for her. Hands down she was the best contestant
