I was there that night. sitting somewhere behind and to the left (looking from the stage) of Riversie(sp?) I almost couldn't find the hall since it was hidden away in a small room in a very large building (used to be a military air base and this was I believe a room in an old maintenance building that covered several acres of the air base.) but I eventually did find the room and made my way in. although the concert was in Toronto it was definitely a Filipino concert ... I think there was only myself, Reversi, and one black guy married to a Filipina that wasn't from the Philippines. the show started in the evening around 7pm if I recall correctly and KZ didn't go on stage till well after midnight to my recollection. in the meantime there were tons of local Philippine talent to keep us entertained (I heard later that this tour was a mess, the tour organizers messed it up so bad that I believe KZ had to cut it short.) but despite the fact she went on so late she was not just going to do a song or two then send us all home, instead we were served a very intimate and personal concert that lasted till well after 3am, maybe 4? don't remember exactly ... just know that KZ put on one awesome show, bringing on people out of the audience that wanted to sing with her (all of which were also incredible singers) even to the point of that when the organizers gave her a list of sponsors and asked her to announce their names ... instead she started up the band and did a 15 minute improvised jazz/rap/jokes verse for each sponsor, incredible, even reading a list of company names KZ keeps you entertained. it wasn't the fanciest concert I was ever at, but it was certainly the most unusual and unforgettable ... I got more than my money's worth.

The thing is, you can finish a whole song with a trumpet but not with whistle notes. Just like vocal coaches consistently stating that whistle notes, though really impressive but they are just like accessories to a song.

But if possible, I'll definitely listen to it to give respect to the artist, though like you i will choose the trumpet sound over the dolphin notes anytime.
