I've just bought one of these, should be getting delivered in the next few days. Pleasing to note the cams don't have to come out to do the shims, unlike my old Z1000H many years ago.

Yeah i got another one on my channel that i revived a couple weeks ago too, had a stuck motor. These are great motorcycles and are not too bad to wrench on.

@@171apples171 This is the 1st big Kawasaki I've owned for around 20 years, the last was a Z1100R Lawson rep, that I should never have sold. Anything with a 903 or 1015 motor has gone silly expensive here, 998's, especially LTD's are still just about affordable, but prices are going up.

Hey GundamZero5, the csr stands for "Chrome Spoke Rim" and this bike has the LTD style rims, and since the covers are so easy to steal i'm not suprised they are not the originals. (I only have my left cover, yep, the right one was stolen, lol!)

I ended up removing them after catching my left cover a few times on the interstate as it tried to come off lol

"All stock" (me: no it's not, the handle ba..) "exept for the bars" haha... Also the bikini fairings say it's a CSR, not an LTD. The tank looks a bit too big for an LTD. It looks like the triple tree might slap into the tank when turning, which suggests to me you might have swapped a tank on from a non-LTD KZ. I don't know the model letters for the 1000, but like for the KZ750 LTD (which is H) the KZ750 E tank is a drop in replacement, but the triple tree ends up banging the tank, increasing the turn radius... I've got a 750 LTD that I think might need valve adjusting. As I understand it, the engine's basically the same except for the jugs being bigger (and the head being bored out more to fit the bigger pistons). It doesn't tick very much though. I have a Rebel that ticks like crazy.

The bars are some really old Renthals I found laying around, they are brazed. The tank is an LTD tank as well as the wheels, fenders, and really everything else. I put a Kerker on it and installed a spade style fuse box because the glass fuses kept de-soldering. I thought about getting aftermarket bar controls and changing my lights and whatnot but I decided to try my best to keep it original and restore what needs restored. I think about turbocharging it all the time and extending the swingarm but I can't bring myself to do it lol

Would this be the same valve adjustment for a 1982 LTD 440?
@171apples1713 жыл бұрын
If its got shims, yes. If its got a little lock nut and set screw on the rocker, its easier lol

Shim under bucket, not an ez job. measure, rinse repeat
@171apples1716 жыл бұрын
The J engine has the shims on top of the buckets thankfully so this wasn't too bad. I can see how the shim under would be a pain in the ass though lol
