Too many 'visual effects', pushing away the splendid vocal parts in the audience's attention. You could have guessed this problem from "L'Amfiparnaso"'s Introduction: we must witness its story not with the eyes, but with the ears: "Spettacolo, si mira con la mente , dov’entra per l’orecchie, e non per gl’occhi" Didn't you listen to Orazio Vecchi, the composer?
