I saw this movie when it came out and I immediately fell in love with both Monica Vitti and Antonioni and remain so to this day. My favorite actress and director. Antonioni with his film Blow-up inspired me to become a photographer, which I remain forty years later. I have a giant poster of Monica Vitti in my office. I can not overestimate how much these to people have influenced my life. I have dedicated several of my photo shows throughout the years to Antonioni, and have even exhibited under the AKA of A.Vitti or Antonioni Vitti.

The film is an absolute masterpiece of cinema. Starring the greatest and most beautiful woman and actress of all time. Monica Vitti. Antonioni is the greatest.

Many and varried reaction this film and my other favorite La Notte. Antonioni is a master of the long take, mise en scene and cokposition. His actors seem to move about effortlestly but....but not so. They, by his very worldview are trapped. All of them are splendid, marvelous ators but able to do so with great understatement. In La Aventura, the main "protaganist" is lost... But as the film progresses we begin to see the main characters are lost also. lost in a lack of moral/spiritual/relational meaning. The rugged shoreline she climbs in the beginning and the empty wide open streets are almost surreal...and unsettling. One of the things that holds it together is the incredible beauty of Monica Vitti! One of my favorite films! (Is the main character ever found? Does it matter?)

As Lars Von Trier says: "My films are my statement" (he has his reasons to say it), and statements are full of ideas, which I think the audience at that time was not ready to see, maybe they didn´t understand a thing, that´s why they laugh...
