This was written for the cellist of the Arditti Quartet, Rohan de Saram, whose parents were Sri Lankan. The passages with the left hand playing pizzicato and right hand tapping on the body of the cello derived from, and inspired by, traditional Ceylonese drumming.

Fantastic performance, just got the music for this and, as chaotic and "bluffable" as it sounds, it's REALLY f**king difficult!!

It's nice that he shows things you don't normally hear from a cello, but I think it could have been a bit more coherent without losing the novelty.

Definitely is horrible. This kinda contemporary music is experimentally horrible. Is not for everybody, just for technical people. But it Stills being an art like reggaeton? Hahaha
