Bit of a weird question but how much would a family of 4 really need as spending money to be able to do a lot in Fethiye? Never been and not sure how the money works or what we would need..
@worldwildhearts2 жыл бұрын
It’s pretty cheap because of the currency right now. We had a nice apartment for 25$ per night. Food is cheap and especially if you Don’t eat out all the time. 5$ for a meal is reasonable. Activities really depends on what you do. We had a car at that point which made it easy to get around. Hiking and the beaches are free, but a boat tour could cost you 25$ per person.

I worked as a tour guide in Turkiye --too briefly. I am impressed with the integration of maps and drone footage into the program. I also appreciate the calm tone in your narration. Many people who were privileged to visit some of these sites in Turkiye in the 1960s or before may attest to pollution and environmental degradation due to 'developments' and urbanization nearby. I hope your efforts do not end up convincing irresponsible people (foreign and domestic) to swarm into sites like this, and leave their unwanted 'legacy' behind...

Amazing, Amazing video. Beautifully put. When did you visit Turkey though? What's the best time?
@worldwildhearts2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! We visited from October-December (in oludeniz in mid-November). It was nice timing when we were there because the coastal areas were still warm, but there weren’t as many tourists. If you want the best weather possible, we would recommend April-October. But if you want less crowds (and still very good weather most of the time), then you can go from Oct-Dec like we did

@worldwildhearts2 жыл бұрын
With all the paragliders jumping off it might be a bit hard to fly your drone in Oludeniz itself. When we were there it was November and there were only a few jumps per day. In the summer, people are constantly jumping off! But overall, there was no need to register the drone when we were there last year. Definitely check the local regulations though as it might have changed

@@worldwildhearts Paragliding was not even invented then. The locals were fishing with dynamite, sharks gave birth in the lagoon, snakes and scorpions under every rock. A bottle of wine, cigarettes and a haircut were all 50 cents. A chieftain invited me into his tent to show me his blueprints for the first hotel.

@@Endoplazmik-retikulum Well, Fethiye was a small villiage then, hardly any tourists. The beach was wild, completley undeveloped. It started with an idiot Turkish soldier offering me his automatic rifle daring me to shoot it at Rhodes. Now I am Greek, so I was not about to shoot at fellow Greeks. I threw the weapon to the ground and screamed at him that a soldier NEVER parts with his weapon. Now rifles are pointing at me and a young 4 star general shows up to see what the commotion is about. He caught on quick, dismissed the soldier and told his men he had 4 stars but I had 5. He invited us for dinner out. Thanks to Alysham, we were introduced to all the important people: The mayor, the admiral, the judge, even the local cigarette smuglars. Everyone knew of us and we made the front page of the Fethiye news, The day we left, they gave a farewell party on the beach and roasted a lamb in our honor. Very hospitable.

As I am travelling solo, few things are not confirmed like what date I will reach Oludeniz, so I am having trouble booking it in advance. Thank you in advance!
@worldwildhearts2 жыл бұрын
No need to book it in advance if you’re travelling in October! (As it will be the shoulder season). Flexibility is key with paragliding because of the weather. The conditions have to be good for it. We stayed for a week in oludeniz and planned it the first really sunny day we had. In October it will still be pretty sunny so probably more chances it won’t get cancelled a few days in a row
