Kira has no problem killing people they think deserve it, so the type of person to be Kira would likely have felt alienated from society or been bullied since those situations often lead to feelings of hatred and revenge for bad people. Being gay could easily lead to either of those things, especially in a place like Japan and in a position like Light’s (very successful in school, son of a respected detective), so Kira might not be gay, but if Light did admit to L that he was gay, it definitely wouldn’t help his case.

Honestly it’s actually a really clever question on L’s part. He knows Misa is the second Kira because she is absolutely dreadful at being stealthy about it.
