This might be the best thing I have ever seen on KZbin or television, ever!

I'm a Japanese who loves L.L.Bean. Unfortunately, there are few people in Japan who can give a detailed review about this brand like you. Therefore, I was not sure whether to purchase this jacket as well, but after watching your video, I did!Thanks for the good review video!

LL Bean has excellent customer service too! If anything goes wrong with it in the first year, they’ll refund or exchange the item.

Highly recommend. One of the warmest sweater-weight down jackets i have ever worn.

I’m confused what the difference is between the down sweater, and the down jacket that is $30 more on their website. Could you explain the difference? Thank you :)
@diwoodoesthings8288 Жыл бұрын
The down JACKET is listed as their "most versatile" down hoody. This will be a great all around jacket for casual use. Though I have seen people using it on trail. It is not optimized as an "ultralight" puffy. It packs into its own pocket in a 9"x12" package. The Down SWEATER HOODED JACKET as seen here is their lightest down hoody. This jacket is purpose-built for the trail and is very packable, packing down into a 7"x11" package. About 29% smaller than the JACKET. I'm not sure as to the difference in fill weight and total weight. But I would argue that bulk is almost as important as weight in a backpacking application.

Thanks for this video. Btw, I think all jackets should have removable hoods. If I want to wear it out I don't necessarily want a hood. But if I am outside and it's brick out, I'll want it. It's 2024 they should all have removable hoods!
@diwoodoesthings82884 күн бұрын
@@xxExtol I don’t like removable hoods. It’s a failure point and it adds weight and complexity to the jacket. It can also be drafty when you really want the hood and it’s windy out. For casual jackets, sure, removable or stowaway hood is great. For technical pieces, no thanks.

@@diwoodoesthings8288 couldn't you just get a hooded mid layer?
@diwoodoesthings8288Күн бұрын
@@xxExtol a hooded mid layer can cause unnecessary bulk under your outer layer. That said, I do like a hooded fleece and use that hood most of the time. But this topic is why they make a hooded and non hooded version of this jacket. Different use cases. Different preferences.

Is it too warm a jacket for 30 to 50 weather?
@diwoodoesthings82882 жыл бұрын
30-50 degrees is ideal. Good for active use down to about 5-10 degrees when layered with a light fleece.

This ll bean, Patagonia down or north face down. What’s the best
@diwoodoesthings82882 жыл бұрын
I can’t accurately respond to that question because I haven’t used the Patagonia down jacket or the North Face. What I can say is: The LL Bean is absolutely fantastic and won’t disappoint. It does exactly what it needs to do and does it very well and will last a long time. Patagonia has probably the best customer service in terms of returns and replacements. Their down hooded sweater is a bit heavier (15.1oz) than LL Bean. And costs more with 800fp down vs 850 on LL Bean. The north face Summit Series down jacket is about the same weight as the LL Bean with a lighter face fabric. Meaning it probably has a higher fill weight(warmer), but will be more prone to damage and tears. And it costs $350 retail. Almost double what the LL Bean costs. It also has 800fp down vs 850 with the LL Bean. For every day use and backpacking I would go with the LL Bean. One puffy I found that will probably beat the LL Bean is the Mountain Hardwear Phantom Hooded JACKET (not the parka) which I do an in depth review of in another video.

I got the Reigning Champ puffer 850 fill 90/10 rds-certified european goose down. it was pricey but its amazing and you can't beat the quality of its body mapped insulation and YKK zippers. These certainly dont feel cheap.
