We chat with rising pop-punk artist LØLØ about her debut album, the brillintly titled 'falling for robots and wishing i was one'.
We also talk about imposter syndrome, touring with her heroes and blacking out on stage with Simple Plan!
Canadian pop-punk artist LØLØ recently marked a significant milestone in her burgeoning career: the release of her debut album. Drawing comparisons to Paramore and Avril Lavigne, LØLØ has already garnered critical acclaim from outlets such as Paper Magazine, MTV, and Kerrang!. With over 35 million Spotify streams, the Toronto-born, LA-based singer-songwriter is steadily gaining momentum.
Last fall, LØLØ toured the UK and Europe with Against The Current, followed by a 31-date North American tour alongside Boys Like Girls, State Champs, and others. Her anthemic single “hot girls in hell” resonated with audiences, showcasing her ability to channel raw emotion into her music. Reflecting on a toxic relationship, the track is a testament to her fearless exploration of intense feelings.
Raised in Toronto, Lauren Mandel, better known as LØLØ, has become a notable figure in the pop-punk scene. Her debut album, *falling for robots and wishing i was one*, released on June 7th via Hopeless Records, cements her status. With a mix of powerful guitars, sharp lyricism, and emotive depth, the 15-track LP delves into themes of love, heartbreak, and self-discovery. The focus single, “wish i was a robot,” encapsulates the album's essence, blending gritty instrumentals with introspective lyrics about the allure of emotional detachment.
LØLØ's live performances are a significant part of her appeal. She has played at major festivals like Slam Dunk and Rock For People and supported acts such as Sueco and MOD SUN on their UK & EU tour dates in 2023. Her magnetic stage presence and high-energy shows have won her a dedicated fanbase.
Beyond her musical prowess, LØLØ is also a mental health advocate, using her platform to promote self-empowerment and authenticity. Her openness about her struggles has resonated with many, making her a relatable and inspiring figure for young listeners.
As she continues to push the boundaries of pop-punk, LØLØ is undoubtedly one to watch. Her debut album marks the beginning of what promises to be a dynamic and influential career.

In the late 90s "Lø" was a mash of Norwegian/Arabic meaning awesome. Today it's used to mean something boring or dull. So in a way "Lølø" is punk
