Writing a hit song ain't hard, I know many songwriters who have not one, but many great songs which will never be heard. The hard part for most artists is distributing it and making money out of it. Marketing is the genius of most successful musicians, not product.

Marketing is everything. My channel is living proof… most of my tracks I make within a week and it’s just me improvising mostly… without the lofi branding my tracks would just be random instrumentals. Granted I’ve put my heart and soul into them but it’s the combination of both that has made made more than half a million views in about 6 weeks.

A hit pop song has a clear vibe, a linear progression that any listener can flow with from start to finish, lyrics that capture the feel, and like it or not in this day and age you have to look young AF with a style that matches and some other famous person that decides to pick you up. Otherwise you'll need a million dollars to market your work and promote it.

@@06Teksso what? It’s not addressed because as I said there’s no set rules or a formula to write a ‘hit song’. If there was you’d just buy it or learn it and we’d all become millionaires. You never know what the public wants so you just gotta keep writing tunes, improving your craft and one day one might blow up. The title is clickbait but there’s gems there if you know where to look for

Whenever I hear an artist say this kind of BS...I just roll my eyes. Mytical processes, spiritual flow etc... it's all just BS folks. And then you wonder why you can't create SH%&T. They obviously leave out a tremendous amount of knowledge, process and technical abilites of the droves of people that participate in the song making process. And the countless hours it can take to grind to perfect a song. Its rather insulting.

Honestly, out of all the songs I've ever recorded. The song that flowed to me the most natural way, is my MOST liked/streamed song out my whole catalog. It showed me that, when you're trying "too hard" with the lyrical miracle, bragadocious stuff, it comes off less authentic. BE AUTHENTIC. LET IF FLOW. It doesn't always have to be about crazy rhymes. SN: I wrote this song passed midnight. Literally looking up at the stars at night. Today, it's my most streamed song. And to think, i debated on even dropping it. Im glad I DID.

Most artists stuck in their bedroom have those same mistakes all over their hard drive but don't release them because they are scared or they don't sound like they hoped or sound like other 'professional' output whatever that means.

Wow! This dude is something! He's right! A hit song or award winning performance ..it must come from your passion, your expression! you can't really control the process. Madonna once said " It's all about the work, the project. Success is a byproduct of the work." Anyone can do an impression of a singer or actor. To do something Original, Something that Hasn't been done a hundred times....Whoa! Malone is original and different from the rest! His brutal honesty, a sense of organic and familiar... His " I've effed up, but I'm still trying to be happy!" Is what he brings to his music. His song Chemical...... it's probably too honest for some. too candid, explicit That's what makes it cool! He's Not afraid to admit he effed up! So many performers act as though they execute everything perfectly! Malone isn't like that! He's Honest and he appreciates his fans!
