कृषि से आमदनी बढ़ाने के लिए पारंपरिक खेती से इतर किसान अब नए प्रयोगों की तरफ बढ़ रहा है। इन्हीं में से एक प्रयोग है लेमन ग्रास पौधे की खेती। इस पौधे से निकलने वाले तेल बाजार में बहुत मांग है। तकरीबन हर खुशबू वाले पौधे में इसके तेल का उपयोग किया जाता है तो इस वजह से इससे होने वाला मुनाफा भी ज्यादा है। हम आपको लेमन ग्रास की खेती करने और उससे तेल निकालने की प्रकिया के बारे में बता रहे हैं।
लेमन ग्रास से निकले तेल को कॉस्मेटिक्स, साबून और तेल और दवा बनाने वाली कंपनियां हाथोहाथ ले रही हैं। यही वजह है कि किसानों की इस फसल की ओर रूझान भी बढ़ा है। उत्तर प्रदेश के लखनऊ से 40 किलोमीटर दूर हरौनी में लेमनग्रास की खेती करने वाले समीर चड्ढा बताते हैं कि वह कई एकड़ों में लेमन ग्रास की खेती कर रहे हैं। जिस जगह वह खेती करते हैं वहां पहले केवल गेंहूं धान की पारंपरिक खेती ही होती थी। लेकिन वह आज वहां मेंथा, लेमन ग्रास और गेंदे की खेती कर रहे हैं। इससे आसपास के लोगों को वह रोजगार भी प्रदान कर रहे हैं।

I totally agree with Bhola ji.I am from Uttarakhand, the so called Herbal State .Despite alluring govt. schemes for Lemon grass either the farmers are not coming forward due to its labour intensive factor or are quitting and winding up their projects due to uncertain monetary returns.And the govt. apathy is well known. So this Kheti is not for all kisans ,only financially sound farmers can venture for it. "Lemon grass ki Kheti se karorpati bano" is all bakwas.
