This made me think, since no other smp has ever achieved this magnitude of cosplay appreciation. Well, during Minecraft's resurgence, servers like SmpLive and SmpEarth popped up, and Hermitcraft was still active which relied heavily on the nostalgia memes and gameplay, but also introduced new content creators to the masses, such as Will or Tommy, which due to their growing popularity got invited into the Dreamsmp. The Dreamsmp unlike the other smps would rely more on stories, even though there was no initial intent to, as we have grown familiar with Minecraft's identity again. But this gradually heavy focus on dramatic storytelling and animatics instead of the nature of Minecraft is what invited even more people from all parts of the internet. The Dreamsmp in my opinion has lost its nostalgic gameplay roots & intent and settled elsewhere to spread it's community. This community is an interesting case and i spend too much time thinking about it
