L.O.K.: Soul Reaver - Ozar Midrashim (Soul Reaver Theme) [Reinterpretation]

A more cinematic, free interpretation of the legendary 'Ozar Midrashim' track from the original Soul Reaver game.
I remember being absolutely blown away by the Soul Reaver intro sequence back in the day (still am!), and a huge part of that was the amazing music, which became synonymous with the series even though it was originally released as part of the 'Don't be Afraid' album by Information Society, a couple years before the game came out.
Still hoping for a remake or some sort of continuation for the LOK series...

I was just working and when I found this track. It literally stopped me dead in my tracks. I always fantasized about an orchestral version of Ozar Midrashim. When it started I thought this is sounds awesome and continued on to be a delight and was already very excited about Raziel's fall. I was not even remotely ready for what started at 2:58. It made me tear up. The instrument used for conveying the anguish, the female choir... it was literally something I hoped to hear some day and I just did. It feels as if I found something I lost long ago. It is crazy. You can't fathom what treasure you have given me today.

What i like about your versions is that even if you give your own take, the eerie vibe and impact of the song stays intact. Though Blood Omen's OST is my favorite, this one is my favorite Soul Reaver song, and i loved this.

Ruined City is one of those tracks that I think was limited by 90s audio tech limitations. There's so much space to evolve that track and make it even more of a banger. That one has my vouch.

I recall specifically his score for X-Men 2: Clone Wars and the Scooby Doo genesis games, great music even with the limits of the tech

This is superb, from the eerie and insidious feeling at the start to the angelic, booming epic payoff at the end. You had me held in anticipation of that so very characteristic "horn" sound from the original at 1:32. This could easily be used in a modern remaster of the game and held up to industry composer standards.

This was an amazing journey, from start to finish. I've been a fan of Legacy of Kain games for 25. years now. Although I'm not a big fan of the modern movie scores (too much of that "Doooooooooooooo" sound), the violin at 2:58 felt like I've been summoned back home. Back to where I belong. I felt that. I often come back to listen to your LoK reinterpretations, I like them much more than the original soundtracks. I would have added a sample of Kain's voice saying "Cast him in" around the 2 minute mark to add to that dramatic feeling. Excellent work as always!

This version you made is hands down the best version I have ever heard. Those last 30 seconds gives me chills, I wish it lasted a few more seconds. This has inspired me to make a video, I recreated kain with this track in skyrim using mods from the community. I just wish I could have played the game the way it was supposed to be. There was a bunch of different reavers, extra bosses and areas, and big chunks of the story ripped out at the last minute because the developers ran out of time. Yet it was still one of those defining gaming moments from childhood.
