It is part of history. History is always relevant. Will Smith said its "unfortunate" that Fresh Prince is still relevant. I call it obvious that it would be. It created connection between different people, just like L0ft

44:44: Why is everything hackable? "It's cheaper and it's easier for companies to sell insecure software. There's no liability attached to the manufacturers, and there's no policing done to stop companies from selling insecure software under the guise of 'secure'. And in this industry where time to market matters, who wants or cares to add security or even thoroughly test their product? Well, you should. You the government and consumer." -May 19, 1998. This is still relevant to this very day.

Oh man this brings me back! I always bought the HacTic magazine, as both an EE/CS student and phreaker. And The L0pht was even worshipped overhere in The Netherlands and there were mentions of their achievements in HacTic.

wow this is a throwback. I remember using your guys software. thank u for putting this video up and remind me that there are still people who do the right thing. I really appreciate the true definition provided of what a true "hacker" is vs what people designate the term to be now.

Either you guys were in the writing room for the movie Hackers or they just saw the CyberMania press kit and ran with it. I mean there are exact shots from this video in the movie. Its really awesome seeing where the ideas originated. Shit they even took your likenesses. If that is not where Mr. "The Plague" came from than I have just seen Hackers too many times... Was waiting for Razor & Blade to pop up next.

I have been involved with public safety land mobile radio systems since 1976. The modern era of trunked radio systems that employed central processors (APCO16) the networks were private and physically air gapped by unplugging service modems. The latest technology (APCO25) is entirely reliant upon IP based connectivity and has same vulnerabilities of any Internet based utility. Despite the obvious need to airgap these systems, they are not. This unnecessary increased vulnerability was driven by the marketing desires, to sell features and services, not increase security.

I don’t know who that was over Lieberman’s shoulder, but she smoking hot. At first I thought it was Jeri Ryan lol. It’s funny to hear them talking about Y2K and some of the exploits that are still being used today. I even have a l0pht Crack on CD that I still use once in awhile on friend’s computers when they forgot the password.

1:09:29 And 25 years later, buffer overflows still happen. C is unsafe at any speeds.
@paultidwell8799
@paultidwell8799 2 ай бұрын
I think the problem with C has more to do with the environment the language is produced in, think critically about it and then you realize project deadlines and the corporate pressure to launch product by X date no matter what issues are actually in the software patch later and pray, and you can start to see why despite the ability to code buffer overflows out of C they're everywhere.

@halvorson566
@halvorson566 7 ай бұрын
@@ApteraEV2024 if you don’t mind my asking, what did you do in the military? Just wondering since you said you’ve been into this for over 30 years; I can only assume you mean computer sciences, hacking, maybe some hardware engineering/hacking. That’s my favorite most of the time since I like taking things apart, seeing everything inside&then remove this, connect that to over there using this tool, power that up, make sure everything’s connected&grounded, punch a few things in&then off load whatever I can, sometimes while leaving a back door open or whatever I “needed” to download onto it, then make sure everything gets put back together so it works again. I always loved taking things apart as a kid&trying to put it back together…when I first started, I was great at taking things apart, but then didn’t remember how to put it together again. I started making blueprints basically while taking things apart to follow when it came time to put it together again.

The collective should develop an App which in the best case is in a Container or as Safe and hardened as possible, mass- market it and advertise it which tracks and listens but does then ff to the dev team - and then back-end to reddit flash mobs which either phone call or appear in another Form asking questions and raising Public awareness in order to combat child trafficking/ neglect and abuse
