@@DeGuerre Hey man. I'm not a hardware/software geek other than RMA soldering which i once did. But i just want to say, cyptocurrency could one day fix what's wrong with this world. Government controlled/exploited inflation, inefficient/slow/expensive banking, and in some degree inequality.. And if you *really* want to dream; corruption in politics and illicit money streams. But that's only an option if crypto is regulated. Let's get this clear; on one hand, i'd like the odd chance of becoming rich. On the other, the chance of drastically improving the future world is also a luring prospect.
@TheChemisch2 жыл бұрын
@@DeGuerre I get where you're coming from as a lot of it is just cash grabs and speculative investing which in itself is really cringe. But unfortunately under capitalism developing and making a decentralized currency would be impossible if some didn't get filthy rich in the process. I mean imagine a world without the dollar? The whole military industrial complex is in place solely to keep the dollar from collapsing, if oil for example was traded in euros that'd be the end of the US financial system. That was the whole premise behind invading Iraq. If the worlds resources were traded with an open source cryptocurrency their would be no need for that, to root against cryptocurrency is to root for the military industrial complex and the united states grip over all asset classes.

I'm baffled that the folks who enlisted his aid hadn't figured out how to back-up their wallet's seed words and store them securely. Okay, you forgot your PIN -- reset your device (or buy a new one) and restore from your saved seed words. Sure, it doesn't make for an interesting and impressive hardware hacking video, but it also keeps you from potentially losing $2 million. Yes, we all make mistakes, but this seems to be an all-too-common one.
@DevinDTV2 жыл бұрын
I think people in general have this misconception that the hardware wallet "stores your cryptos", but in reality the hardware wallet is just a safe way to utilize your private keys to make transactions. The actual place your cryptos should be "stored" is in your brain -- by memorizing your seed. It's really not that hard. It took me about 15 minutes to memorize my primary 24 word seed. And, yeah, it may be prudent to stamp the seed into a piece of metal and store it somewhere safe.

The very best part of hacking IMO is the euphoric feeling you get when you break the device, developing the hack is part of the adventure, you really have to be creative, and enjoy frustration, there will be a lot of that, so many different approaches taken, so many dead ends found, but my favorite is when I do something unexpected and I get a NFW! that shouldn't work! Congrats on the hack!

This was extremely impressive, and it's amazing how composed you were. Editing was also top notch. Well done Joe and every one else involved.
