I think for the second order correction of energy (12:34), it should be delta Hkn

You can work the other way round because δH is hermitian.

Thanks for posting these lectures! They are amazing. I wanted to ask why the overlap of n1 and k0 not equal to 0? Are the two vectors not orthonormal like n0 and k0?
@Krzmbrzl
@Krzmbrzl 2 жыл бұрын
There is no relation between n1 and k0. The only thing we know is that n1 is orthogonal to n0 but we did not establish any relation with regards to any k != n.
@brandonsmith6052
@brandonsmith6052 Жыл бұрын
But he states k0 is orthogonal to n0, and since n1 is orthogonal to n0, doesn’t that mean k0 is orthogonal to n1?
@kashifhussains2951
@kashifhussains2951 7 ай бұрын
No , there is no rule to relate these two states , he just states n(0) to be orthogonal to n(k) for all ks

@@brandonsmith6052this doesn't imply the orthogonality , if you think in terms of vectors , if a is orthogonal to b and a is also orthogonal to c then b and c can also be in the same direction as well as orthogonal, this doesn't put any bound on mutual dependance of b and c
